In order to understand this text, you need to know what biodiversity is. It refers to the rich variety of life on Earth. Biodiversity is composed of three elements: genes, species and ecosystem. Biodiversity makes it possible for humans to obtain basic needs such as food, fuel, shelter and medicine.

We all choose our topics because we all wanted to learn more about how the world functions and how we can help the world to be more sustainable and a better place to live on for the next generations. All the topics do not seem to be connected, but as we researched more we could find how they were interrelated. The economy is present in all our topics. The company’s need to produce so people consume and the company doesn't go to bankruptcy. At the same time they produce garbage and contaminate because sometimes it is more expensive to do things in a sustainable way.

By: Adriano Macri Pollution of all kinds can have negative effects on the environment and wildlife and often impacts human health and well-being. &nbsp;&nbsp;There are three major types of pollution: air pollution, land pollution and water pollution.&nbsp; Air pollution is mostly caused by factories that&nbsp;give off toxic substances that pollute our air. This is mainly the cause of global warming. Another cause is the carbon dioxide generated by the fossil fuels used by different vehicles such as cars, trains, planes etc. All these result in smog and different diseases for humans like making people’s eyes burn and making them have difficulty breathing. It can also increase the risk of lung cancer and asthma. The international organization's new model, the most detailed to date, has collected data from satellites and ground stations on 3,000 locations, both rural and urban, in 103 countries. The information is presented through interactive maps that show the areas where the limits are not respected. Extinction and Food Chains When we talk about extinction we are not just talking about the extinction of one single species. The extinction of an animal can cause problems to other animals. For example, when an animal becomes extinct we usually have a decrease in the number of creatures that feed on this population and an increase in the number of animals that were hunted by this extinct animal. Animal populations are connected through food chains, which are a cycle connecting nature and animals to sustain the circle of life on planet earth. In the image below there is a food chain representation. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;As we can see in the food chain image, the grasshopper eats the grass. The bird eats the grasshopper, the snake eats the bird and the owl eats the snake. Finally, there is the fungi acting as the decomposer. When the predator (the owl) dies they decompose it, helping the producer (the grass) to grow. The food chain cycle is repeated and repeated for many decades. The interruption of a food chain is the reason why several animals become extinct. In some cases it is because predators have killed a lot of other animals or because the habitat where animals live may have suffered weather changes causing them to move. Other reasons could also be that some animals are targets of poaching or that some forests are burnt.&nbsp; In this image we see the illegal hunting of a jaguar. It means that an unauthorized person enters a forest or a zoo to kill such animals. These animals are killed to get some parts of their body’s that are worth a lot of money. What would happen if Climate change has never existed? &nbsp;I think the world would be more relieved because the air or the Earth would not be contaminated with with the ozone layer. The people would be terrified because of&nbsp; the air pollution was damaging the ozone layer. But with no climate change, no risk of the ozone layer, and with no pollution by 2100 the Earth would be to be much cleaner. Let’s stop dreaming,we are in a bad line. We have COVID that killed a lot of people and climate change is horrible so we need to change. What would I do? I would do a website to help people that are affected by Covid and another web site about&nbsp; the air pollution in many countries like India or Venezuela, and I would share their stories and create an ONG that collects money for the people. I would collect the&nbsp; money to help the people who need help and with the covid a lot of people are in the hospital, and they can’t pay medical bills so with the money that was left I would donate it to them so they will recover faster. Could we exist if the dinosaurs were still alive? We could have existed all the same but if we had not bothered them because life is not like the dinosaurs movies where they get the dinosaurs and put them in jail. If we had got them, and they saw us looking at them, they would have taken revenge like they would have eaten us. But a lot of places would belong to the dinosaurs. Now that we are a little bit more technologically advanced we could have&nbsp; dominated them. Anyway, it would have affected the&nbsp; Fauna.

Land pollution is mainly generated by the trash that we leave behind, like plastic. Chemicals leak into the ground contaminate the water, too many of the same pollutants that foul the water also harm the land. Mining is one of the principal sources of soil pollution because it sometimes leaves the soil contaminated with dangerous chemicals. The consequences result in erosion, sinkholes, loss of biodiversity, or the contamination of soil, groundwater, and surface water by the chemicals emitted from mining processes. Another source of contamination are the agricultural activities. Pesticides and fertilizers from agricultural fields are blown by the wind. They can harm plants, animals, and sometimes people. Some fruits and vegetables absorb the pesticides that help them grow. When people consume fruits and vegetables, pesticides enter their bodies. Some pesticides can cause many diseases in people. Water pollution One of the principal sources of contamination is trash, such as plastic and chemical products used in industries. Oceans are also polluted by oil on a daily basis from oil spills, routine shipping, run-offs and dumping (disposing of waste carelessly). Some polluted water looks muddy, smells bad, and has garbage floating in it. Some polluted water looks clean, but it is filled with harmful chemicals you can’t see or smell. Polluted water is unsafe for drinking and swimming. Some people who drink polluted water are exposed to chemicals that may make them sick years later. Others consume bacteria and other tiny aquatic organisms that cause disease. The United Nations estimates that 4,000 children die every day from drinking dirty water.

It means that an unauthorized person enters a forest or a zoo to kill such animals. These animals are killed to get some parts of their body’s that are worth a lot of money. In the images above we can see examples of these animals, such as rhinos that are killed for their horns or tigers who are killed for their skin and bones. Conclusion How can we protect biodiversity? Following nature protection, humans need to protect all animals that are close to extinction making sure they have a secure food chain.
