Columbus landed on the islands which are now called the Bahamas. The people who lived there called it Guanahani, but Christopher Columbus renamed it to San Salvatore.
1492: Christopher Columbus reaches South-America accidentally, while he wanted to show the humans who believed the world is flat, that it is actually round.
So after Columbus found America, European powers began to colonize it.
One of the colonizers were the British. They were actually the first settlers after Christopher Columbus to be in America. They had their first permanent settlement in Jamestown, Virginia in the year 1607 and in the 1770s they had 13 colonies on the Eastern coast.
This is the Mayflower, with which the first British emigrants went to America. It was a long and painful journey. There were children, women and of course men on it. Many people died during the journey and at one point the ship even almost broke, but luckily most of them made it to America.
There was also a war between British colonizers and the French. The war went 7 years long but in the end the British won. Sadly there were consequences:

So then the taxes became an issue and England tried to get as much as money from the colonies in America. They started with the Sugar Act in 1764, after that didn’t really work out they made a stamp act in 1765 and of course this one also didn’t work out so they brought the Declaratory act in 1766, but what actually happened in these acts?
