County Overview
The Caledonia South Terrain is a unique place to me because of all the colors in there and how it is shaped.

The Fish Market
Have markets that sell a lot of fish.
They eat bougna that has fish in it everyday. (bougna is the favorite dish in New Caledonia.
Fish had become 1 of the foods for the diets in New Caledonia.
Culture Change
The part of culture I am researching is the languages of New Caledonia.
This is important to the people of New Caledonia because their language has gone through so many changes and one of them was how the French came and forced their language on them.
The first New Caledonians spoke many of their own languages, but then contact with sailors from Europe led to a mashup of the two languages where it was part English and part their own languages. It was called Bichelemar.
The language Bichelemar was spoken in New Caledonia for a short amount of time before the French language was established. The French had forced their language on the New Caledonians and the language Bichelemar disappeared. The New Caledonians were upset by this and demanded that they would be able to speak their own language. Now everyone in New Caledonia is able to speak in at least two languages.
The language mainly spoken in New Caledonia is French, but there are many more traditional languages that are spoken there as well including Wallisian, Tahitian, Indonesian, Bislama and more.
