Section 2: Culture
cultural change
The majority of malaysians believe in an omniscient/omnipotent god so their belief that god controls their lives is central to their religion.
In this day and age, however, many religious malaysians are starting to believe that success comes from hard work and perseverance more than the will of god.
Most of this change has been influenced by western ideals and it seems that the malaysian government is not happy about that.

Allah, the one and only god in the muslim religion.
Section 2: Surface Culture
Malaysian greetings
Greetings are surface culture because they are something you can see right off the bat when meeting a malaysian person.
Traditionally, men will greet each other with a handshake or a nod of their head. Women greet each other verbally, unlike men. Common verbal greetings include Halo (hello) selamat pagi (good morning) and Namaste (salutations).
When they are greeting a friend or someone they know well, men will sometimes shake with both hands, (like doing a secret handshake with one of your friends)

Section 2: Deep Culture
muslim people pray at a mosque
Religion
This part of Malaysian culture is very important and it can be seen as deep culture because you might not see it at first glance.About sixty percent of malaysians are muslim, with the other forty percent being a mishmosh of other foreign cultures. Most ethnic (native) malaysians are muslim. Parts of the muslim faith include going to a mosque (their version of a christian “church”) once a week and believing in just one god: Allah. Their core values include a sense of belonging to a single community and holding true to the five pillars of islam: profession of faith, prayer, donating a portion of your own wealth to the poor, fasting during Ramadan and finally making a pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in saudi arabia.
Because of malaysia’s geographical location, it has been a meeting ground for cultures and religions from everywhere in asia and beyond. Because of that, almost every major religion in the world has a noticeable presence in malaysia.
