~ Japans Overveiw ~
A place that we want to go in Japan is the capsule hotels ! They're a type of hotel, but the rooms are just a bed in a small capsule. These capsules occasionally have color changing lights or tvs. They have a door that you can pull down to make you're room more private. You put you're stuff in giant lockers, you also get a pair of slippers ! (in Japan its rude to wear shoes in somebodies home, so they wear slippers). ! disclaimer : the images we put in here are an uncommon and expensive capsule hotel design !
<--------- This map marks Mount Fuji, one of the mountains in Japan. It also shows some of the major cities in Japan
This is Japan !! If you look closely, you can see it's states and regions

FOOD by lyric hutchins
---------------------------------------------------------------

In Japan, food is a way to help remember and recognize cultural traditions. The ingredients in Japanese recipes have changed overtime. Due to cultural changes the type of food that is being consumed in Japan has changed. For example: Traditionally, Japanese meals would always include rice. Now, it’s less common, because wheat products are more popular and cheaper. Also, traditional Japanese diets did not contain red meat. But since Buddhism arrived in Japan (in 1871) , it became normal and popular, similar to wheat.

Pre 1600s
In the pre 1600s they would wear something called a junihitoe. A junihitoe had many layers counting in 12 or more layers, it can weight up to 20kg. Nobles began to wear a kosde. It was a basic worn thing to wear for nobles and women.

1868-1989
In 1868-1989
It was common for women to wear kimonos and layered with paired accessories like hats, scarves, gloves, umbrella and hand bags.
After the 1950s japans fashion started to develop rapidly along side kimonos became primarily reserved for special days or occasions. As winging sixteens started dressing dolly/ longhaired or free loving hippies

~ deep and shallow culture ~
shallow culture :

Music in Japan is a big deal. It is one of the country’s oldest traditions. For example, there is a type of ancient Japanese music called Gagaku. There is a traditional dance called Bugaku that goes to Gagaku and is often done if Gagaku is being played. In Japan, music is used to express emotions or form beauty through sound. Bugaku is a dance inspired by dance forms from Korea, India, China and Southeast Asia in general. There are 2 forms of Bugaku. Dances of the left which is performed with Chinese-style music and dances of the right which is done to Korean-style music. The colors of the dancer’s depends on the form you do (red, blue, or green). In case you’re wondering, modern music in japan is very different from traditional/ancient music. A genre of music in Japan that you may be familiar with is j-pop (which i very similar to k-pop but its Japanese instead of Korean).
deep culture :

! TRIGGER WARNING : THIS PARAGRAPH INCUDLES SENTIVE TOPICS SUCH AS WAR, BOMBING, DEATH, AND SICKNESS. IF ANY OF THESE TOPICS TRIGGER YOU PLEASE DO NOT READ, AS THIS MAY BE TOO GRAPHIC FOR CERTAIN READERS !

On august 6th at 8:15 am in Hiroshima and Nagasaki japans culture changed forever.
The morning of august 6th a bomb called “little boy” dropped down on Hiroshima. In the first hour of the bomb 75,000 people died and around 140,000 dead by December of 1645. Nearly 92% of the buildings were either destroyed by the shake of way blast and fire. Many people who died shorty died that afternoon from fatal burns and radiation.
3 days later on august 9th the bomb called “fat man” got sent and 140,000 lives were lost. 10,000 of the 200,000 deaths were people in the military. By 1950 200,000 people died, pregnant women who survived the bomb faced additional horrors, many kids who were born had abnormally skulls and suffering disabilities.
all about anime !

Manga (mhaan-guh) has entertained people in Japan for centuries. Manga is a Japanese book genre. Its basically a graphic novel but the images are anime instead of basic cartoons, you also read it from the back cover, not the front. It became famous for its simple lines and exaggerated expressions (which are the two main elements of manga and anime) Modern anime began in 1956. It was originally a genre aimed towards children, but eventually that changed when they started to make more and more animes with teen/adult storylines. Anime isnt just popular in Japan (if you couldn't tell), its popular everywhere, and started to gain that popularity in the 1990's. Anime can be drawn or made with a CGI (computer generated image) platform. Anime shows some Japanese cultural beliefs as well. For example, ancient Japanese believed that eyes are a window to the soul, which is why they made them so big in anime/manga. Possibly, that has something to do with exaggerating emotions as well.

our favorite animes !
lyric :

Danganronpa (dang-an-ron-pa-) is my favorite anime! It is not necesarily the most appropriate anime, but its very good. its a murder mystery. My favorite part about it is the characters. My favorite characters include Junko Enoshima, Kokichi Ouma, Shuichi Saihara, Angie Yonaga, Monokuma, Nagito Komaeda, and Celestia Ludenburg. Some fun facts about Danganronpa are that its a video game and an anime, also, in english, Danganronpa means truth bullet. This relates to the plot because in each episode there is a trial to try to figure out who the murderer is, resulting in somebody confessing the truth. I love this anime, and i think you will to! This can be streamed on Hulu.
