You may think all dinos were big but some were only the size of a small turkey. On march 11th, 2020, scientists discovered a new type of dinosaur , the smallest in the world. They named it Oculudentavis Khaungraae. They found it trapped in amber. It weighed as much as 2 dollar bills (two grams). Whoa! That's so tiny! Cool!

Once a plant or animal dies sometimes it gets buried under layers of sedimentary rock. For years and years the soft parts of the body eventually dissolve leaving only bones and teeth behind. Years later people called paleontologists dig them up. Sometimes the thing leaves an impression on a rock. That is also considered a fossil. One time I was hiking with my parents and my brother. My dad was checking the trail while my brother and I were digging in the rocks with my mom. "Look what I found just laying here," said my mom. I went over and picked up what my mom was pointing at. It was a fossil with an impression from a shell on it! Wow! And if you find a fossil you should be very proud.

The biggest dino may have been Argentinosaurus or Amphicoelias. The fastest dinos were the ornithomimids. Sharks were alive before dinos.

A carnivore eats only meat like T Rex and Allosaurus . A herbivore only eats plants, like Triceratops and Edmontosaurus. Omnivores like Troodon and Eoraptor ate both plants and meat. Insectivores like Microraptor ate bugs. Piscivores like spinosaurus ate fish. There was also a giant prehistoric dragonfly called Meganeura. It could eat a human! Cool! Dinos ate so many different foods! Even more than me! And a dragonfly that could eat a human? That's just awesome!

There were soooooooooooooooo many  dinosaurs that I could go on forever and ever and ever.

Dinosaur means terrible lizard, which comes from the greek words dino, meaning terrible, and saur, meaning lizard.There were also pterosaurs, prehistoric reptiles that flew.Dinosaurs couldn't fly. There were also prehistoric marine reptiles who could swim. Most dinos couldn't swim. But the spinosaurus could. And spinosaurus was a dinosaur. Whoa! Dinosaurs were SO cool! And one of them could swim! AMAZING!

Triceratops was one of the last dinosaurs to go extinct.
