This book is dedicated to all of my friends but especially, Amelia, Eliot, and Austin who shine their special lights bright
One day at Greenfield elementary in Class 3B, a new student arrived. His name was Eliot. He was shy and quiet. He mumbled at the front of the class, telling where he was from and why he came to Greenfield. Mr Kiro told him to sit down in his chair. Eliot stood at the front of the class frozen in place by an invisible force.
He looked at his classmates and saw smooth, shiny, green, dinosaurs. He looked at himself and saw a rough, bumpy, purple dinosaur. Finally Eliot slumped into his chair and the day of classes began.

At recess, Eliot was playing on the swing and his classmate Akira came over to him. Akira told Eliot to get off the swing so that he could use it. Eliot was uneasy and a little bit frightened.
He moved aside because he was not interested in swinging, and he didn’t want to cause conflict.
