Too Tall

2021-22 6th Grade Public Purpose Books

         &nbsp;Kevin the bird, Dave the turtle, Mango and Peach the lions, and Dotty the ladybug were sore. The other day they had tried to make George feel better, but they felt even WORSE.&nbsp;

They were Bruised, Bandaged, Blemished, Bumbled,

Black eyes, and lumps that went up to the sky. They couldn’t go on like this, they needed to tell George.

Kevin the bluebird came up to George and said," Hi George! You look sad what's wrong?" George replied with tears streaming down his spotted face," I'm too tall, as high as the sky!&nbsp;I CAN’T do anything you guys do! I guess I’m not good enough to be your friend." Kevin quickly replied with no hesitation at all," Don’t say that! You're probably the coolest animal I know!"

George sat alone in his room. Silenced by his longing thoughts. He wanted to be like his friends , but that would NEVER happen. He was too tall, and he would be forever.

They had told their friend the news, and George didn’t take it too well…

"Help! Help!" shouted little Peach. "What could that be?" thought George. He peered out his wide ,wonderful, window and heard a CREEEEEEAKKK come from the wondrous willow tree. Mango’s little sister, Peach, was stuck in a tree! Heroically George yelled," Peach!! Don’t worry I’m coming!" &nbsp;George dashed through the magnificently tall door and talked calmly to Peach. "Shhh… It’s okay. Scoot towards me and climb down my neck. You got this!" Peach listened, and was saved!&nbsp;

                  I will NEVER be short! I am just too tall!!!&nbsp;

"I’m ready to be as tall as you, George!" Peach the kitty stated. George responded with a loud,"&nbsp;Hooray! There’s a lot you need to learn."

Some time later, the friends could not manage to become like George.

&nbsp;         For some reason George had an &nbsp;ear to ear smile spreading across his face the entire day. Excited, he practically flew to the jungle to meet his friends. 

One day, George the giraffe felt sick. His friends had been playing games that he couldn’t. He was too tall, just about as high as the sky. Dave the turtle slowly came up to George and questioned," Hey George, want to play?" Mango the lion joined in," Yeah, come on! We're doing an obstacle course!" "It's REALLY fun!" said Dotty the ladybug. "Okay… I guess I can try," replied George.&nbsp;So George tried to squirm through the tiny, itty bitty, little hole, but he was just too tall.

&nbsp;"You saved my sister! You’re a HERO!" cried Mango. Peach complained," I wish I was tall!" "I guess being tall isn’t so bad anyways! I’m me, and that’s all that matters!"

&nbsp;George felt he owned the world. He was ecstatic! He couldn’t believe that his friends were like him. He was the same as his friends, and he was satisfied. George the Giraffe was no longer too tall.
