One day as Squirrel was out collecting berries in the forest, Beaver called ,“All forest animals must come and gather here for this week's meeting.”
“Come on, you are going to be late,” said Deer as she sped by. Squirrel left his berries were they were and scurried after her
“I’m coming, tell them to wait for me,” replied Squirrel.
When Squirrel got there everyone was waiting for him
“Thank you for joining us, Squirrel,” said Beaver. “I gather you all here today to discuss a very important matter, we do not have enough berries for everyone. So I will choose a food for you and give you a piece to try. So everyone make a line behind Squirrel and Chipmunk.” And with that all the animals moved around until a line was made.
Squirrel come here,” said Beaver, “Your new food is a walnut.”
CRACK went the nut as he opened it.“ Mmmm, it is delicious,” said Squirrel
“Chipmunk come here,” said Beaver, “Your new food is an acorn .”
While they were waiting Chipmunk said ,“My food is so good I bet it is better than yours mmmmmmmm.”
Squirrel thought his was delicious but could not stand the temptation. “ Do you want to trade?” he blurted out.
“ Sure,” said Chipmunk, so they traded .Squirrel spit it out immediately.
Squirrel exclaimed, “yuck it is disgusting you tricked me!!!!!!!!!!”

“I am in a good mood,”said Chipmunk. “I will make you a deal. I am free to eat walnuts and acorns whenever I want and you can eat 3 walnuts each month and all the acorns you want.”
“Fine” said Squirrel. So the deal was made. Now every morning Chipmunk climbs to the top of the walnut tree and says, “My food is so good, I bet it is better than yours. MMmmmmmm.”
And that is why squirrels eat acorns
