It was a warm day at land, and a cold day in the sky.
“Hail! Do you want to play today?” Ground asked.
“Let me ask the wind first,” Hail responded.
“Okay,” Ground said.

“Wind, can I please go play with Ground today?” Hail asked.
“No! It’s not safe on the ground!” Wind responded.
“I want to go see Ground!” Hail exclaimed.
Listen!
Later that night, Hail sneaked out of his house, but Wind was prepared. Just before, he told Cloud to tell him if Hail sneaked out to play with Ground.

“Wind!” Cloud yelled as he ran into his room.
“Yes? What is it?” Wind replied.
“Hail sneaked out!” Cloud replied.

Wind ran and caught Hail with a WHOOSH before he could reach ground.
“Awww,” Hail sadly said as wind pulled him back up.
“Again, It’s not safe on the ground,” Wind exclaimed.
“I want to go see Ground!” Hail exclaimed.
Listen!

Then it happened again the next night. Hail left at exactly 8:00 AM when both Cloud and Wind were fast asleep.
He made it down a couple hundred feet without anyone knowing, except Wind woke up exactly when Hail was just 100 feet away from Ground. Wind rushed over and Hail kept trying.

Hail could hear a WHOOSH and another WHOOSH, but he just couldn’t grab hail.
Hail dropped with a BANG and melted.
Now he can play with Ground every day! He was so excited!

The news spread all over the sky, with everyone knowing Hail’s story. They all wanted to go and be friends with Ground! And that’s why there is Hail.
Listen!
