How Lions Got Their Manes

Once upon a time a long time ago there lived a lion with very long hair named Goldie. However, this lion liked very much to explore. Sometimes this curiosity overtook her. He heard the tale of the alive trees but she heard that these trees liked very much having there rest not being disturbed. But this lion was very proper and was certain she would never wake these wild things.

So she asked her mother this very question,
’’Mother, what do the alive trees do when there are awoken?’’ With fear and a worried look on her face her mother said,’’ Whatever you do never go near the alive trees!’’
But the young lion wanted to know the answer.

So she asked her father,
’’Father, what do the alive trees do when they are awoken?’’ The father of Goldie had the same expression on his face just like Goldie’s mother, so her father replied with.
’’Whatever you do never go near the alive trees!’’ But Goldie wanted to know very much the answer to her question! So Goldie decided that she was going to ask one last lion. And that lion was Goldie’s sister.

So Goldie asked this,
’’Sister, What do the alive trees do when they are awoken?’’ Goldie’s sister had the same expression as there parents had so she said.
‘’Whatever you do never go near the alive trees!’’ At this point in time Goldie was mad, she was desperate to see or be told what the alive trees did when they were awoken! Without thinking Goldie decided that she herself was going to the part of the jungle where the alive trees lived and would ask them no matter what, she would ask them what they did when they were awoken. 

So she was off thinking to herself that the alive trees would hear her and wake up calmly and ask what she wanted. As she crept to the back of the forest she realized that it was getting dark very dark, too dark that she couldn't see!

As it got darker and darker Goldie jumped at the booming voice of the alive trees saying,
’’ Who disturbs are slumber!’’ Goldie’s trembling voice was more like a squeak,
 ‘’I-I did not mean to disturb you, I just came to ask what you do when your awoken.’’ The trees names were Nina and Sam. The trees blurted out,
‘’ Well your going to find out!’’The trees grabbed Goldie and swung her around! Goldie was so scared that she started to scream!
‘’AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!’’

The trees would not let go! All of a sudden the trees sharp branches shaved the long hair so there was only long hair around her neck, the slashing sound sounded like this,’’SLASHHHHHHHHH!’’ When the trees let go Goldie was so surprised that she only had long hair on her neck! When Goldie got home her parents where so surprised at this fantastic event!!! Finally Goldie comes to recognize that you should never disturb anything or anyone without them knowing. She also comes to think that it is not that bad to have short hair.
