One day the giraffe family was waking up when the kid giraffe asked his mom and dad, “Can I go on a journey to find food?” And his mom and dad replied, “Sure.”
And off Giraffe went on his journey to find food. He gathered many many leaves on his journey before he got tired and thirsty so he went to the watering hole.

When he got there he noticed that this was a different watering hole than the one by his place. I must have traveled very far, he thought. Then he met Elephant and asked, “ Which watering hole is this?”
The Elephant replied, “The southern watering hole.” Then Giraffe noticed that it was getting late so Giraffe gathered up a few more leaves and started heading home.

On his way home Giraffe saw the biggest and greenest leaf he had seen on his journey. I am going to get that leaf, he thought.
Then he said out loud, “ I am going to get that leaf.”
Then he noticed that it might be dangerous with the tight fit between the branches but he did it anyway. After he got the leaf off the tree when tried to pull his head out he couldn’t get his head out. He was stuck.
"Help Help," he cried.
Then he said out loud, “ I am going to get that leaf.”

Then the Hippo said, “ I can help.” Then along came Elephant that he saw at the watering hole.
Elephant said, “I can help.” Then along came Lion who was looking for something to eat and when he saw Giraffe he started running toward him. They kept on pulling and pulling and Giraffe's neck started getting longer and longer until CRACK went the Branch and SPLAT they went on the ground. As they looked around they saw Lion still coming but with Giraffe’s long new neck he hit Lion away and sent him running. Then after that Giraffe went home with his new long neck. And that is why Giraffes have long necks.
