Mr. Thomas was sending me to another plantation. It wasn't too far away. When I arrived I met the master of the farm. His name was Mr. Covey. I became a field hand for him. I was happier here. He wouldn't treat us as bad as some of my other masters did.

We worked all day everyday. No matter the weather or time. When we ate Mr. Covey would tell us to go back to work even if we didn't finish our food. Mr. Covey was the smartest animal in the jungle. He didn't hurt us slaves because he wanted us to work. He thought if we were disrespected while working we wouldn't run away or start a fight.
