In 1964, Dr.King was awarded one of the greatest honors. It was called the Nobel Peace Prize.

Martin was born on January 15, 1929. He had a Mom, Dad, brother, and sister.

He died in April 1968. He was shot by a gun.

He went to school at Morehouse College. He was only 15 years old when he started there. He graduated in 1948.  He went to Boston University for a doctorate.

Who Was

I like to read books. I live in Sleepy Hollow, New York. I am eight years old. I have a mom, dad, and a sister who is three years old. I love to eat chicken nuggets. My favorite dessert is ice cream cake. I love to write with Miss Girolamo.

He fought for equal rights for all people. He was a man who believed in peaceful protest. He was a great leader of the civil rights movement. Martin won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. He was assassinated by James Earl Ray.
