Great Pyramid of Cheops in Giza
Great Pyramid of Cheops in Giza
Pyramids in Giza - a complex of historical buildings including the two largest pyramids built in ancient Egypt (the pyramid of Cheops and the pyramid of Chefren) and the smaller pyramid of Mykerinos and accompanying objects.
They all have the shape of a pyramid with a square base. The largest of them is the pyramid of Cheops - one of the seven wonders of the world with a base with a side of 230 m and a height of 147 m. Chefren's pyramid reaches a height of 137 m, the pyramid of Mykerinos is only 65 meters high. Around these pyramids, a number of smaller ones were built, intended for the tombs of queens and state dignitaries.
Chefren's pyramid is distinguished by the monumental sculpture of the Sphinx standing next to it. Carved in a huge block of rock, it has the body of a lion and the head of a pharaoh covered with a wide nemes scarf. The length of the monument is 73 m and the height is 20 m.
