I memorize facts by writing them down, in math I make diagrams and I try to take many notes. I don’t remember what my teacher says, when they talk because I get distracted. So I like when they draw, or talk to me about the subject. When I have to learn new words I write the words down to reinforce them so I memorize them. and translate them from Icelandic to English or English to Icelandic. I also write down the meaning, or meanings if there are more than one. I try using the word in my vocabulary on a daily basis.&nbsp;

I like listening to music, or watching something when I'm studying. I also like to have comfortable chairs. Dimm and cozy lights help me alot, and fidget toys help when I'm reading or listening to something. Since I am more of a tactile learner.

I learn how to spell by writing the word over and over. I notice the structure of the word. And I read it often. In different sentences. I say the word like it is exactly spelled. here is an example “Diagram” i would say it like “Dia - gram” or “Tactile” would be “tac-til-e “ By learning a new skill I never give up. I am consistent and I try not taking brakes. I also try to do it in a sequential order, it helps me memorize the steps of the skill. If I make a mistake I try to tinker it. I would like to improve my Auditory learning skills. And my reading skills. I don't have patience nor the attention ability to read or listen to something but I know if I try hard it could be easier for me. If I have enthusiasm about the subject I'm learning I find it much easier and more fun.&nbsp;

Tradition Every year 9th graders go to the Netherlands in our school. They raise money by selling stuff and getting sponsors from businesses in Fáskrúðfjörður. It’s not an obligation to go to the Netherlands. They could choose Italy, France or whatever country in the world but most of them choose the Netherlands. For many years kids have been going to the Netherlands. That's why everyone chooses the Netherlands. Every year the 9th graders come with fun stories about their trip. But when we went, it ended up not being so fun…

We had a flight early in the morning and everything went well. We were all so excited. We flew to the capital, Amsterdam. Then we had to drive for 2 hours to get to our destination, Center Parcs de Kempervennen. It started when one of the team captains did not remember the way to Kempervennen, the family park we stayed at. Eventually he found the right route, but when we came he had only bought food for his daughter, so everyone except her was starving. But the other team captain found a restaurant nearby and ordered pizza for us.

The beginning&nbsp; We started off by driving all the way from Fáskrúðsfjörður to Keflavík which takes about nine hours. We stayed at the Blue Viking hotel in Keflavik while we waited for our flight. The hotel was nice and homie. There we found a doll that our friend took and named him Kevin, he came with us everywhere.&nbsp;

The First Day We explored the family park we were staying at. It had a beach, a swimming pool, volleyball courts, restaurants, stores, a waterpark and a small farm. The farm had horses, alpacas, goats and chickens.

“The last day” ... All of us woke up early ready to go on our flight. We arrived at the airport and it was packed. There were so many people there, and there was such a long line of people. We waited a long time for someone to call us to check in. After a long wait we were allowed to go to the check in. After the check in we waited in a long line. We had to wait outside in the line and guards were handing out small bottles of water so people would not get dehydrated and pass out. After long two hours of waiting outside we finally came inside to wait another hour. The team captains decided to split parts so some could get some water and something to snack on while the other ones were waiting. We called the two captains that went to get water but did not and went in the plane, and told us to hurry.

So we ran as quickly as we could but we were not fast enough. The gate had closed. We were stuck in the Netherlands. But we weren't the only ones, four other icelanders came running quickly after us. They were a band that were playing in Belgium, they’re called “Misþyrming”. We ended up walking to the bag department where we were supposed to get our luggage. Which was lost. So we didn’t get it, they told us to take the train to a hotel where we stayed for the night.&nbsp;

The Actual Last Day We took the train back to the airport the next morning. Our team captain was going to Egypt so we split up. Misþyrming was so nice and helped us with everything. When we landed our luggage did not come with the plane so Misþyrming helped us with everything, for instance, sending the bags to our house, and helping us through everything. We are really thankful for them, and our team leader.&nbsp;

The Second Day&nbsp; We rode our bikes to the nearest town, Bergeijk. It was 17 km and everyone was dying, it was really hot but beautiful. There were many forests and we stopped at a graveyard that had many men who died on the field in World War 2, where the graveyard was located.&nbsp; The Third Day&nbsp; We drove to Belgium. The drive was about 2 hours, and we went to an amusement park called Bobbejaanland. It was really fun, there were many roller coasters. One of our team captains went on a roller coaster and got puked on and it was horrible but kind of funny.

The Fourth Day We drove to Valkenswaard, which is a town near the park we stayed at. We took the bus to Eindhoven and went to a mall. The mall was small but it was nice to relax and shop. It was a beautiful city. The way back we made two nice friends that were citizens and we taught them some icelandic and they taught us a little dutch.

On the fifth day &nbsp;Us girls drove to Germany, because Germany is near the Netherlands. We went to a big castle in Dortmund. Germany is the prettiest country we’ve been to. There was a big forest surrounding the town. Our friend almost passed out so we tried to find a pharmacy but the nearest pharmacies were closed so we didn't make it. Our friend was okay. We got some water and drove back to the Netherlands. The drive back was so nice, we listened to music and slept.&nbsp; The Sixth day We packed our bags to be ready to go to the airport. Most of us wasted our last day relaxing on the beach, listening to music and talking. But our friend and one of the team captains drove to Westhoven to see the doctor because our friend was feeling ill. We met some people and chatted with them while eating in the restaurants. There was fun entertainment and people singing and dancing

I am 15 years old, almost turning 16. I'm born in August and I live in Fáskrúðsfjörður. I have lived in Fáskrúðsfjörður my whole life. And grew up doing gymnastics but now I practise volleyball. I work as a waitress in the restaurant Sumarlína.
