Quest to Unveil Old Friends Attacker
In our podcast, we will be taking a deep dive into the analysis of the book and the themes, characterization, character development, and societal challenges.
Our recommendation:
We think that this book is quite interesting and gives an important perspective on the lives and society of others. It was a suspenseful book and kept readers guessing and it was difficult to predict the end result of the book.
Shine by Lauren Myracle is a book from the perspective of a person named Cat. In the beginning of the book we find out that her old childhood friend named Patrick was beaten to near death and got a gas pump shoved down his throat. This put him into a coma. She regrets how she just ditched him when they got older and figures she has to find out who did this to him to make up for it. At first you are led to believe that this attack was because he was gay and it was just a random hate crime because they live in a very homophobic town. Although some hints are dropped throughout the book that lead you to believe otherwise. Throughout her search she has to confront her own past and learn about forgiveness. Cat originally works alone, but through unlikely encounters she finds friends to help her in her journey to catch the perpetrator.
