Where The Crawdads Sing
Synopsis and Recommendation
Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens is a fictional novel that follows the life of Catherine "Kya" Danielle Clark, who lives in Barkley Cove, North Carolina. The book is set from 1952 to 1969. In 1969, Chase Andrews the star quarterback, is murdered. Kya lives in a secluded part of town, which leads the rest of the town to consider her as an outcast, calling her "The Marsh Girl." During her childhood, Kya's family abandons her which leaves her to fend for herself with only the gulls as her friends. She meets two boys that each show her a glimpse into the world outside the Marsh. A world that Kya never had the chance to experience when she was younger.
We recommend Where The Crawdads Sing for readers who have more interest in murder mystery or romance books. There are some elements of nature that are incorporated into the storyline, but the main plot of the book is: Kya trying to navigate her way in the world with many obstacles and few companions.
