Book Creator transforms Graphic Organizers with multimedia and accessibility

Have attendees take a minute to reflect on what they've heard today. They can do this on their own or with a partner. You could use one of our Graphic Organizers to support this. You can show teachers how to access Graphic Organizers and add them to their books, or you could demo taking the Graphic Organizer you choose and making a copy into each of their books (if they are in your library). This section is provided for you to have screenshots of additional features if you would like to use them in your training.

In this section, you will need to split your time between demonstrating Book Creator from your screen, and giving teachers time to try it out themselves. We think that giving teachers time to try it is where the magic happens but depending on how confident your teachers are and also if you are virtual or in person, you may want to spend more time on the demo. The following three pages cover the very quick demo we think is all you need to get them started. The focus in this section is on how to use Book Creator to create and add content to a book. This is the same for teachers and students. Later in the book we will dive into how teachers and students work together.

Try one of the following prompts to get you started!

Create a book that shares a special moment from your life, like a surprise birthday party or a special trip.

Create a book that profiles a place in the world you want to visit like the Taj Mahal or The Great Wall of China.

Create a book that could be used as an exemplar for a project you would like students to create this school year.

Guided but independent exploration After your short demo, you'll want teachers to get in and create a book. You can give them complete autonomy, or you might announce a task for attendees, using one of the examples on this list or create your own. This will give users a chance to try the features, explore Book Creator themselves, and ask plenty of questions. Note that when signing in for the first time, users will see a few onboarding questions. These are designed to provide users with the best resources for their classes. You may like to have teachers create books in your library, and allow them to see each others' books. This will get conversation going!

Teachers can create libraries for groups or classes of students

Teachers can create a library and invite students to join. This makes sharing new books and templates simple. It also allows teachers to monitor student progress in real-time, give feedback, and keep student creations organized.

Key Points: - Images can be added using our safe search or uploaded. Students can search with speech to text. - Camera allows you to take a photo or video, directly from in the app. - The pen tool has a range of options, including an AI-powered autodraw tool and emojis. - The record feature easily allows students to express themselves or demonstrate their learning with their voice, or you can use it to record instructions. - Add text includes special characters, allows for changing the color and word highlighting. &#160;- Speech to text is available in 120 languages.

As an alternative to students creating books from scratch, make use of templates for students to work in. Check out our templates in the Discover section of the App, or create your own. Once you have the book ready for students, click on <a href="https://intercom.help/bookcreator/en/articles/8587478-assign-a-book-to-your-students">Assign</a>. If students are already in your library, they'll see a new book on their bookshelf. If not, invite them to join and they'll immediately see their assignment.

The i button is also known as the "inspector". You can also think of it as the formatting button. If an element, such as text frame, is selected and you click the i button, then you will see the available options for editing it. If no element is selected, you will see options for editing the page background.

Now that your attendees have seen how easy and powerful it is to create content in Book Creator, you'll want to show them how they can invite students in to their library and how to use the teacher dashboard to work with their students. After all, the real magic happens when teachers see the joy and engagement in their students when they get to create! It’s always nice to anticipate questions before leading a new training. Here are a few common FAQs.

Find helpful information in the Learn section of the app, or go to our <a href="https://bookcreator.com/support/">support pages</a>.

You’ll want to think about how to answer these questions for your setting before the training starts:

• What devices will students use? • How will teachers &amp; students log in? • Do we have premium or free access? • Can students collaborate on books? • How will students share their work? • Will students be able to view other students’ books? • What age level is this for? • What subject areas can use this?

Give your audience a reason to listen and engage in the session. We've included a few resources you can use to get them excited about the potential of Book Creator.

Create an exemplar for an upcoming project so students can see what they can accomplish with Book Creator.

Make feedback fun and engaging with GIFs and stickers!

Feedback is essential for student progress. Our <a href="https://intercom.help/bookcreator/en/articles/6459601-add-comments-and-feedback-to-books">commenting tool</a> allows multi-media, ensuring students can benefit from tone of voice or emojis. Things you may want to show or discuss: <ul><li>Adding comments, incl. audio and video comments</li><li>Disabling commenting</li><li>Notification Center</li><li>Teachers can view misuse of commenting by seeing all comments, incl. deleted comments using the dropdown</li></ul>

Use the record feature to add your own audio to the page

Become a Certified author in this self-paced training. This course is made of 18 lessons and finishes with a quiz to test your learning. The training has around 2 hours of material and is self-paced - you can pause and return at any time.

We recommend that you demo Book Creator live. As you are trying to maximize teacher time using Book Creator, you could simply show teachers 3 steps at this stage. This emphasizes the simplicity of the tool. • Create a new book • Add content (+) • Format content (i)

Create an invite code or link to share with your students. As soon as students log in they will be in your library. Click on +New Book. (note that on the next page you'll see an alternative option, where you make use of a template). 3. Student responds and improves their work. 4. Share student books with colleagues in your school or student families!
