In August 2021, the CN Tower announced plans to renovate. The plan is to improve the outdoor terrace, maximize year-round indoor viewing.

The original plan for the CN Tower's design was bold. The design had three round pillars connected by a series of bridges.

The CN Tower was carefully considered. People were concerned with disrupting the habitats of migrating birds.

The base of the CN Tower was filled with concrete, rebar, and steel cable with a thickness of 22 feet (6.7m) to ensure a strong foundation. 

Building of the tower began in 1973. It was built to be a telecommunications tower to transmit radio and television signals.
