On the Oregon Trail, people would carve their names into a rock in Nebraska called Chimney Rock.

Travelers had to spend $800 to $1,200 to buy the things they needed to complete their journey on the Oregon Trail. In today's money, that's $27,000 to $40,500.

From the early 1850s to the late 1870s, there were a series of wars between the U.S army and the indigenous people called the Plains Wars.

On the Lewis and Clark expedition, Clark made a map of West North America, which was later used by travelers on the Oregon Trail.

The Oregon Trail is sometimes called the Oregon- California Trail because at one point it branched off and went toward California.
