Big Wind Day commemorates the recording of the highest natural wind gust measured on the Earth's surface on April 12,1934. Mount Washington, which is the highest peak in the Northeastern United States at 6,288 feet, recorded wind gusts blowing at 231 miles per hour!

<ul><li>Switch up your pronouns! Instead of "you", say "thou" (or "thee" for more than one person), or you could try “thy,” “thine,” or “ye.”</li><li>Call all of your friends “cousin.”</li><li>Drop the word <s>it</s> and just add a ‘t’ – ex: ’tis, t’will, t’would, etc.</li><li>Try to speak in rhyming couplets!</li><li>When in doubt, add an “eth” or “est” to the end of verbs – “he runneth” instead of “he ran” or “thou thinkest” instead of “you think”.</li></ul>

Walter Hunt, an American mechanic, made a special pin in 1849 to pay back a $15 debt to his friend. Even though he didn't get rich or famous for it, he sold the idea for $400 and paid his friend (and made a $385 profit). He made the pin to keep clothes together and prevent injuries. The design he made is still used today for many things like fastening clothes, as jewelry, and even for body piercings. Walter Hunt was really smart and invented a bunch of other things, too. He made a gun that could shoot many times without reloading, a pen that you don't have to dip in ink, and a tool to make knives sharp. But his most famous invention, besides the safety pin, was the sewing machine. Walter didn't want to make money though from this because he thought it would take away jobs from people who sewed by hand. In 2015, people started celebrating a holiday called Safety Pin Day. Then, in 2017, it became known as International Safety Pin Day. It's a day to celebrate how useful and important safety pins are in our lives!

When April Fool’s Day comes this year please follow this advice: You&nbsp;shouldn’t&nbsp;prank your parents. Nope. That isn’t very nice. To make it easy, here’s a list of things you shouldn’t do: The bathroom floor is not the place to put your plastic poo. Don’t turn the family photos upside down around the house. And never tape the underside of mom’s computer mouse. Don’t change the menus on the TV into&nbsp;Gunganese. Don’t offer dad a sandwich with the plastic on the cheese. Don’t place a piece of tinfoil in their bed beneath the sheet. Don’t stick some ketchup packets underneath the toilet seat. You really shouldn’t use the salt to fill the sugar bowl. Of course, leave all the batteries in each remote control. Don’t set the clocks an hour ahead to make them think they’re late. And bubble wrap beneath the bathmat might make them&nbsp;irate. So, that’s a list of April Fool’s Day pranks you shouldn’t do. (Unless you need to get them back for pranks they played on you.)
