The History Man. With his boundless enthusiasm and wealth of historical knowledge, The History Man promised to bring over 4,000 years of world history to life right within the walls of our school.

Year 2: The Great Fire of London

Year 2 Embarks on Historical Adventure: The Great Fire of London Comes Alive with 'The History Man'

When The History Man came, there were lots of clothes and we dressed up in them. We dressed up as Samuel Peeps and some clothes from 1666. I wore an old blue waistcoat with a white collar.

There were small houses

and the History Man said that everyone in the class could pick one up and then we went into a circle. There were lots of houses that were set out like a map with the river next to it. There were some houses that were black from the tar and if there was a fire those types of houses would burn the quickest.

We went into a circle and there was a jar full of plague solution. We passed the jar around and smelt it. Everyone in the class did not like the smell! One of the ingredients was vinegar. There was also bacteria from the plague toys that he threw around to some of the children.

There were rat toys to pretend that they were the rats that spread the plague across London.

There were weapons like helmets, guns and swords. We were allowed to touch them.

My favourite part was when we touched the weapons and I really enjoyed the time. It was really good fun.

out the fire. We put out the fire at the end but it was very hard. It took a very long time and we got wet!

The History Man put out a piece of wood with some gunpowder on it. Mrs Nixon put fire on the gunpowder and it made a huge cloud of dust!

My outfit was Samuel Peeps. I wore a long, white wig and a brown waistcoat. I didn’t like wearing the wig, it was really itchy.

When The History Man came, we got to play with some toys. We played with a plague toy which looks like bacteria and some flea toys. The fleas were on the rats that spread the plague around.

He took us outside and we played a water game. We needed to pump the water to help put out the fire of the candle that was in one of the windows of the house.
The water was in buckets and it went into a hose then the hose helped put

Year 4: The Ancient Egyptians

The History Man Transports Year 4 to Ancient Egypt for an Unforgettable Lesson!

The History Man had lots of knowledge about Egyptian games. He told us about them all and let us play some of them such as 3 in a Row, Capture the Rock, Tug of War and Pull the Sleigh.

He let us make clay figures one of the represented to protect them from any danger. He also told us that when they grew plants, they planted them in the two hottest months and left them when the Nile flooded, which happened every year.

The History Man told us about the Rosetta Stone. It is a stone with three languages which was founded by the French.

He used some of our classmates to show us how the Egyptians dressed.

They wore one layer of cloth which had to be thin because it is super hot. Even in the winter they wore the same type of clothes because it was still very hot.

The History Man had lots of fun activities about the Egyptians. We looked at the pyramids which we found out were there because the Pharaohs were buried there.

The History Man also inspired us to make papyrus paper (papyrus is a plant in the valleys of the Nile). To make papyrus paper, we were given a strip of brown paper We then cut it in a straight line and placed it on acetate plastic. We covered it in glue to hold the pieces of paper together and create a finished look. When it was dry we drew Egyptian pictures on top of it.

The History Man Turns Learning into a Dramatic and Fun Adventure!

The history man was also using toy animals to show us how the animals were buried inside a pyramid. The animals were buried alongside their humans. They also got mummified just like the humans did.

I had so much fun with The History Man and learnt a lot about Ancient Egypt.

The History Man was so silly in a funny way because he was so dramatic, it was really good fun and engaging. He showed us lots of games from Ancient Egyptian times.

He also got us clay to play with and we made Egyptian dolls with it.

The Egyptians believed that they would send you to heaven. They had a very interesting face.

My favourite part was the Tug of War. The girls were
on one side and the boys were on the other side. However, I think my class found this part the most scary! The boys and girls won one match each.
