By Lisa CurranEllie started loving football when she was just four years old. She was always out kicking a ball around with her cousins or her older brother Tom. The Kelly family were always mad into football. Ellie was a 14 year old girl, she had light blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She tended to take everything so seriously and always needed to win everything. Ellie first joined an all boys club when she was five years old and played with the club for three years. Ellies mam Elaine thought it was very rough for a little girl, she was the youngest there and most of the time would come home from training with bruises or a bloody nose. But she had to stick with them since there were no girls teams where they lived up in Sligo.
Ellie had always looked up to Sam Kerr. She thought it was very good how Sam had started off playing AFL (Australian football) and then moved to playing soccer. At first Sam thought soccer was very different and didn’t like it too much. However she went on to become one of the best female soccer players in the world! Recently Ellie and her family had moved up to Dublin which they were really loving because Tom also played soccer and was going for Ireland trials.
Ellie was very different to the girls in her class. They were all girly and loved to shop and wear makeup. She sometimes finds it hard as she loves soccer and never wears dresses or anything girly. All of Ellies close friends, she had made through soccer and didn’t go to her school. Ellie hated school and finds all of it very boring and sometimes hard too. When Ellie first started secondary school she struggled because everyone was saying how weird it was that she was playing soccer and it was very boyish. She even didn’t go to school for three whole weeks because of it . She still doesn’t enjoy school very much but is dealing with it.
It was one boring Friday afternoon in school and Ellie was impatiently waiting for the school bell to ring. She had a very big soocer match on Saturday and was eager to get some extra training in before it . When the bell finally rang , Ellies face lit up and she sprinted out the door. When she got home , she put on her jersey, shorts, socks and football boots. The game was a semi final and if their team didn’t win it would be so heartbreaking for them all. Ellie trained for nearly three hours, shooting, dribbling, passing and much more. When she came home she had to do some homework which she really didn’t want to do. She went to bed quite early that night. She wanted to have a great night's sleep for the big game tomorrow morning.
