The Annual Spelling Bee

When the judges announced that Riley won, he shouted, “WHAT!!!” at the top of his lungs. Riley was so excited and happy that he won. He got a big, gold, shiny metal that he was extremely proud of.

After all that had happened on that spelling bee competition night, Riley felt relieved. He knew he wasn't just a small wimp and that he was strong, brave, and smart. Aidan was still upset that he didn't win because he was confident in himself and he didn’t practice at all, unlike Riley.&nbsp;

&nbsp;“Every contestant please come to stage.” the aunoser said into the half dead microphone. Riley was as nervous as a person on a typerope who was afraid of heights. He wobbled onto the stage with all the courage he had in him, sadly that was barely any courge

Riley goes back to the stage full of confidence, he then starts spelling out all of his words correctly. Aiden was getting mad, anger spilling out of his eyes. Riley and Aiden have been getting every single word correct and it was just them left on the stage. Although Riley was getting all confident in himself, his heart was pounding out of his chest in nervousness.&nbsp;

Spelling Bee!!

At the annual spelling bee, There where only a couple contestants that entered. However every contestant was shaking in their clothes, so many people will be watching them tonight. Riley is the smallest competitor and the youngest, so all the pressure was on him. Aiden always bullied him. Aiden was well known to bully Riley, but no one cared. They thought Aiden was cool and everybody wanted to be his friend! Riley had his hopes up, but deep down he knew no one would be supporting him.

Riley, he thought he was a wimp, yet he realised he wasnt. Riley is a strong, smart, passionate kid. After the spelling bee people started noticing Riley a lot more. Everyone wanted to be his friend! They stood up for Riley when Adain bullied him. However, Aidan stopped bullying Riley and just walked past discussed by him. He was so mad he lost the spelling bee, he wished he had never joined in the first place.Riley always says, “I will compete in the spelling bee again!” So, Riley learned a very valuable lesson, brains is better than bronze.

As all the contestants are leaving the stage getting their words wrong, Riley and Aiden are left on the stage. The judge announces the last word of the day, “pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis.” which is the longest word in the dictionary and the hardest word to spell. Aiden is up first and spells the word wrong, his face pale of anxiousness. But, he wasn't going to quit yet because if Riley also gets it wrong, Aiden still has a chance to win.&nbsp;

While waiting in backstage Aiden walked up to Riley and whispered, “you're too small, you will NEVER win this competition or the next! No second grader can win against a sixth grader in a spelling bee!” These words really got to Riley because he knew that nobody liked him. All he knew was that people would rote on the “great and awesome”, Aiden!

When he got to his chair he waited patiently waiting for the announcer to start asking the kids how to spell the next word. Riley looked over at Adain who had a evil smirk on his face. Underneath Aidans breath he said,” remember what i said whimp, oh and if you try to beat me you will be sorry tomorrow.” This wasn't hard to here since Riley sat right next to Aidan. Riley wished he didn't sit right next Adain. None of the kids cared about Adains remarke, they didn't care one bit. All they cared about was wining.

Aidan and Riley were patiently waiting for the announcer to say the winner. A couple minutes later the judge comes back on stage and says, "and the winner is... Riley!!!" Riley was shocked.

Riley’s starting to gain confidence in himself. “I’m in the finals!” Riley says with excitement, “i’m not just a small, young wimp, I’m smarter than that!” Back on the stage Riley goes, with more confidence than ever!
