Bolt blue

In the past parents forced kids to work because there was not a law yet that made children go to school. The kids needed pay rent and buy food for their families and they only got paid a few cents a day .The children worked in dangerous factories also lost ARMS, EYES and LEGS while working in the dangerous machines. They were poor so they had old, dirty and broken clothes.

In 1938 a law was passed that made child labor illegal. Now parents work and kids go to school like me. I'm in school , plus now kids don't lose eyes, arms, and legs . Now kids put on nice clothes and parents pay rent and bills. Kids only job is to go to school.

I think 🤔 the kids were sad before but now we are happy 😃&#160;

How has New York changed from the past to the present?

Long ago people had no money so the only house they could afford was a tenement. Long ago bathrooms were outside. Tenements only had one bedroom, where 10 to 15 family members would live together. Poor families lived in tenements. People in the past had no electricity.

Now in 2021 people have money so they can get a big house. Now we have pretty bathrooms with plumbing. Houses now have a lot of electricity to power our televisions and stoves. Also now houses are nice and clean our houses have a bathroom indoors, and it is not dirty.

I think that the tenements then was little and no bathroom.

i think that the apartments now are big because it has bathrooms and the water is clean.

In the 1830s New York City used animals to pull cars. Cars could not move so they were horse-powered. In the past horses were used to carry carts and that is how people traveled. In addition, horses look like this when they would carry the carts.

One of the earliest cars to be built was the Allen. The wheels were chain-driven like a motorcycle. The Allen car used a 3.1-liter side valve with four-cylinder engines.

Today cars have 4-6 cylinder engines. Cars are now more advanced. You don’t need horses to carry the people to different places. Cars have different kinds of wheels. Cars now look like this. Cars in the past could not be a color like red blue orange or yellow.

En el pasado el transporte consistia de caballos, bicicletas, y caminar. Luego se invento el carro de madera con cuatro ruedas como un nuevo medio de transporte. Las personas ricas eran los unicos que usaban los carros.

La tecnologia ha avansado mucho. El transporte ahora es mas rapido que de los carros de el pasado. El tiempo a cambiado tanto que es mucho mas facil de viajar y ir a otros países que se tarda las horas. Ahora hay diferentes tipos de transporte como carros, bicicletas y aviones. Tambien hay trenes y autobuses.

En el pasado los trenes eran ruidosos y muy feos. Tambien, los carros eran un modelo viejo y costaba poquito dinero. Las bicicletas del pasado tenian una llanta grande adelante y una llanta pequeña atras.

Ahora las bicicletas tienen llantas son del mismo tamaño. Ahora los carros son más rápidos que los carros del pasado. Los trenes ya no son ruidosos y so mas limpios y bonitos.

Los carros del pasado eran mas lentas y no costaron mucho dinero.Las bicicletas del pasado eran lentas y tenian una llanta grande y otra llantita chiquita atras.

Los carros del presente cuestan mas dinero y son mas rapido que el pasado.Los citibikes tienen llantas medianas y corren mas rapidas. Los citibikes se rentan con tarjeta de credito.

Los ninos trabajaban mucho, trabajaban 15 horas al dia. Trabajaban para ganarse dinero para comprar comida y ayudar a sus padres. Trabajaban en la calle o en fabricas.

Ahora los niños van a escuelas y aprenden y practican cosas de las escuelas . Ahora usamos computadoras. y tablets. Ahora tenemos libros y pantallas en la clase y no tenemos que trabajar . Ahora tenemos que estudiar.

En el pasado trataban a los ninos mal en las fabricas. Los ninos perdian brazos y piernas en las machinas. A los ninos le pagaban poco dinero cuando trabajaban. Tambien trabajaban 12 a 15 horas al dia. Trabajaron y no le dio dinero y se sintieron triste y no podía a jugar.

Hoy dia los ninos van a escuela ya no tienen que trabajar. Hoy en dia los ninos pueden jugar en el parque y se pueden divertir con sus familias y sus amigos. Tambien cuando terminó el escuela pueden jugar y conocer amigos.

In the past, the adults had to live in tiny rooms with their families. In the past, there was no privacy when people had to use the bathroom. In the past there was no electricity, people have to use candles for light in the rooms.

Now apartments have lights and electricity. Also, the apartments now have more space and your own bathrooms and beds. Now we can have pet animals in our apartments. Now we can also watch tv and relax in our apartments.

Tenements in the past were small apartments. 10 to 15 people slept in one room. There was no electricity, you had to use candles to have light. In the past tenements looked dirty, they were smelly and dark. Only poor families lived in tenements.

A fact about houses and the buildings now is that when you come in it is nice and clean they have balconies too. Also, apartments now have electricity and you don't have to use candles because you have light. We have electricity to power refrigerators and stoves. We can also use the bathroom inside of our apartments.

El transporte, el trabajo infantil y los lugares donde vivían personas han cambiado mucho en Nueva York desde el principio de los años 1900. Con el tiempo han cambiado muchas cosas, por ejemplo, ahora vivimos en apartamentos nuevos y limpios. Los modos de transporte son mas rápidos y fáciles de usar. Ademas los niños hoy en día no tienen que trabajar para ganar dinero.

Muchas personas tenian que vivir en un pequeño cuarto . Antes los tenements no eran lindos eran sucios. 

Antes los baños eran en la calle y eran pequeños. Antes las personas tenian que dormir en una sola cama. Antes tenian las personas que ir a fuera a usar el baño.

Ahora los apartamentos son lindos no sucios. Ahora la gente son felices con todas las cosas. Ahora las personas tienen un apartamento

Ahora todos tenemos un apartamento o una casa limpia y hermosa. Ahora tenemos muchos baños en cada casa. Los niños trabajan mucho para ganar dinero para comprar ropa y comida y cosas para trabajar.

The children of the past worked hard to have some money. The children lost their hands and arms in the factory machines. Children worked 12 to 14 hours a day.&nbsp;The children worked hard because they needed money. The children did not wear shoes because they needed money to buy them but they were too poor. The children of the past worked hard because they needed money to buy food, live, and survive.

There is no child labor now! Now children have their own lunches to eat and also now they have a cafeteria in school.  Children's jobs now are to go to school and have fun.  Our job is to do work at school and complete homework. Now we can have pets at home if you have a big home or an apartment.

I know that New York City is the place where people come to live better lives and have better opportunities for them and their families. Lets take a closer look at how some things were before, and how they have changed.

Los apartamentos antes se llamaban tenements eran apartamentos muy pequeños nada mas tenia una habitacion. Y ese departamento tenia que alcansar para 1 familia era entre 10 y 15 personas porque nada mas era un cuarto para todos y los pasillos apestaban a basura.

Ahora todos en una familia pueden tener su propio cuarto y baño.Pueden tener las cosas que quieran como toallas y ropa, perfumes tambien lociones. Las familias pueden tener velas . Las habitaciones pueden ser grande o mas chiquitas. ahora los pasillos ya no huelen a basura,  ya hay ventana

Trains had no air conditioning. The people riding them would hold on to the straps of leather hanging, and they had leather padded seats.

All trains have air conditioning. The seats in the train are made of plastic, people hold on to the metal poles, and the trains system shows people what the next stops on the train are.

Bikes had one big wheel in the front and one small wheel in back. The front was very high off the ground. It was called " High Wheel's"

Bikes have the same size wheels. Anybody can rent a bike for a fee. They are called Citibikes. They are found all over New York City.

They were only made by only one manufacturer in one color. The color black. They had no top roof. They were very cheap.

Cars come in many different colors by many manufactures. They can still be cheap or very expensive. They run on gasoline, diesel, and electricity.

¿ Que edad tenían los niños trabajadores? Tenían 4 y 15 años trabajaban de 12 a 14 horas para ganar mucho dinero y ayudar a su familia ¿Que trabajos tenían los niños ? Todo tipo de trabajos en el campo recolectando frutas, fabricas de hilo, vendiendo periódicos, rompiendo carbon en las minas ,vendiendo leche, cociendo y de limpia botas ¿ Que heridas sufrieron los niños al trabajar? Perdieron extremidades como sus dedos, brazos ,piernas y los pulmones por el humo ,los ojos también los niños trabajaban en químicos peligrosos donde se enfermaban por los humos y mordían.

A partir de finales de 1840 los Estados Unidos comenzaron aprobar leyes que los niños no podían trabajar en lugares. Sin embargo el numero de niños trabajadores siguió creciendo hasta 1910. En 1930 una ley fue aprobada prohibiendo a los dueños de negocios emplear a los niños menores de 14 años . Hoy en día nosotros los niños vamos a la escuela a aprender muchas cosas , jugamos y no trabajas. Y ahora somos felices .

Los tenements son casas chiquitas. Los tenements no tenían baños y dentro de la casa había familia y 30 personas. No podían ir en el baño y tenían que esperar en el baño si tenía frío tenían que esperar allá porque no podían usar el baño.Los tenements no tenía calefacción y no tenían luz y agua. Las personas que vivían en los tenements era inmigrante no tenía dinero.

Los apartamentos ahora tienen electricidad y tienen baños y agua limpia. Incluso hay cuartos que tienen mucho espacio y camas. Tambien, hay comida en el cocina y tenemos estufas y refrigidores. Ahora hay yardas para jugar afuera y disfrutar con nuestras familias y amigos.

In the 1900s to get on the bus and train, you used tokens or pay cash. Steam was used to power the trains. People used coal and steam to power trains in the early 1900s. In the past, people would use horse-drawn carriages or bicycles to travel.

In New York City now we use electricity to power trains. People can now use metro cards to get on the bus and train. To use citibikes people can use their credit cards to rent the bike for an entire day and park the bike at another destination.
