The harp seal, also known as the Saddleback Seal and or Greenland Seal, are a species of earless seal which are found in and near the northernmost Atlantic Ocean and Artic Ocean.

-Harp seals grow up to about 6ft. -Harp seals have a lifespan of 30 years. -Harp seals are born with white furs while their blubber grows in.

The student of the week this week is Ester in 6th grade and was picked by Mr. Sherman, according to him "I saw her grow a lot from last year to this year. Her work ethic is amazing. I also said that she is alway on task." We got a chance to ask her how she feels, and she said that she felt,  “ shocked and amazed. She also stated that she feels like she does deserve to be the student of the week.

For the middle school extra curricular the entrepreneurship class, run by Ms. Mader, is doing some exciting stuff! For example they are creating a baby onesies company and learning the art of technology. We had a chance to  ask Ms. Mader what entrepreneurship class is, she said "They learn how  to check if companies are trademarked, and learn the basic of how to start a business." The class is important because it gives the students freedom to set their futures where they want to go and are passionate about. The class is learning so much stuff about starting a business, and what they need to do to get there, and even how to stay on top. A super informative and important class.

All of these students have worked tirelessly to create an informative, fun, and colorful magazine. The purpose of this magazine is to inform the school about important events, but it is also to give students recognition for their achievements.

(And a special thanks to Ms. Axelrad for helping us out on the magazine!)

For this week we are trying something new! There are a lot of staff and helpers at GSOTA and we want to recognize and appreciate them. We have talked to Ms. Hannah and Ms. Alyssa, they help kids middle school and elementary for their speech sounds, social skills, language and communication.&nbsp;

Ms. Hannah said why she choose this path of being a speech-language pathologist. "&nbsp;I wanted to pursue a career that provided me with opportunities to fill many roles in an ever-evolving field. I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings such as hospitals, clinics, schools, and homes with people of all ages. I chose to work with children because I saw the impact a speech-language pathologist had on my brother when we were growing up. She helped him obtain the confidence he needed to communicate with others and she was always his biggest advocate." she loves working and helping children gain new foundational skills. Her goal wit that is they willuse the rest of their lives.

Ms. Alyssa explains why she choose to do elementary and middle school kids instead of high school. she said that "&nbsp;I love helping to build a foundation I know will serve my kids throughout their lifetimes. Working with little ones is a new adventure every day, I couldn't&nbsp;imagine doing anything more fulfilling!" She choose to work in this profession because she enjoys working and playing with kids and she wants to make a positive impact "&nbsp;what better way&nbsp;to do that than changing the lives of our future&nbsp;generations!" Says Ms. Alyssa.

The new middle school technology arts teacher is Mr. Joseph. He choose GSOTA because "It was a great opportunity." and he explains why he got into art in the first place. "My history as an art teacher and my love for it." He has got his art into art museums, and knows how to play guitar!

Mr. Joseph has been working on all different types of art medians because he would like to master all of them.

A exciting new topic for this week is the new teacher of GSOTA. One is Ms. Gomez the elementary art teacher. We had a few quotes for her plans, goals, and career choice. "I am the new art teacher here at Gardens School of Technology Arts, I chose this school because of it's instructional philosophy on nurturing big thinkers and problem solvers who are positive members of the community, and can apply learning to real-world situations." We asked her, for her plans for the year and future years she said, "To create a safe space for kids to express their feelings through art. Art is important because it helps you reimagine the world through imagination. What she likes is most about GSOTA is the staff, she said "everyone here has been so welcoming." 

This Sunday on September 11, 2001 in New York City four planes were hijacked and ran into the twin towers and 2,996 people died. On behalf of all the media crew we would like to recognize the families of the people who passed and thoses themself as well. We wish them the best and hope this national tragedy is memorialize and honored all throughout the U.S.
