GSOTA Survey

That's why we need healthy meals so nobody gets sick and more options in case someone is allergic to the lunch or can't have it and they've had nothing to eat, and they feel so bad they pass out because they had P.E.

The History/Background of the Seasons

Spring is a fun season, during the season of Spring there's a spring break for a week! According to smalley.com,"A non-coiled spring was used in a bow and arrow dating back 64,000 thousand years ago. The first coiled spring was invented in 1763 by R. Tradewell, but the first steel coil spring wasn't developed until 1857. “Coil” was chosen for the name as it referred to winding cylindrically or spirally." In Spring the days get longer!

Summer is a lot of things it is fun and it's fun but there is a question that no one is asking, what is the history of Summer?According to dictionary.com,"The word summer is quite old. It's recorded before the year 900 and comes from the Old English word for the season, sumor. It's related to the Dutch zomer, the German Sommer, and the Sanskrit samā (which means “year”)." Summer is known for being the hottest season of the year and have the longest day of the year!

The word autumn and fall originated in Britain. According to dictionary.com,"Recorded use of the word fall as the name of the third season of the year comes from as early as the 1500s. The name is thought to originate in the phrase the fall of the leaf, in reference to the time of year when deciduous trees shed their leaves." Fall is one of my favorite seasons. Fall used to be called Harvest!

Winter is the coldest season of the year! According to britannica.com,"winter, coldest season of the year, between autumn and spring; the name comes from an old Germanic word that means “time of water” and refers to the rain and snow of winter in middle and high latitudes." Winter symbolizes the "end of different things." The last time it snowed in Florida was January 3/2022!

Fun Fact :The spiritual meaning of the seasons

According to writescape.ca,"In fall, the growing cycle gives us ripeness and maturity. The harvest is associated with abundance, prosperity and wealth. Humans to experience an “autumn”. If spring represents new birth and childhood, and summer symbolizes youth, autumn represents adulthood and maturity."

Things That Originates From Mexico!

Have you ever wondered where chocolate originated from? The Olmec, one of the earliest civilizations in Latin America, were the first to turn the cacao plant into chocolate. Mexican chocolate is made from coarsely ground cacao, granulated sugar, and cinnamon and also chiles, nuts, and spices can also be worked into the mix, resulting in a complex, intense flavor. Besides its added ingredients, Mexican chocolate also has a more rustic texture than many other styles of chocolate.

Believed by many to be the best snack of all time, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos were actually invented by a mexican called Richard Montañez. One day, a machine broke in the assembly line, causing some Cheetos to not get dusted with the bright orange cheese powder, so Richard took some home and put chili powder on them. He created his own recipe for a spicier version of Cheetos that was inspired by a Mexican street snack called elote (corncob).

His legacy continues to be remembered as one of the pioneers in the history of television colour it was invented by a Mexican called Guillermo González Camarena. He was only 22 when he introduced his self-built colour TV to the country in 1940, and he was to later come up with a ‘trichromatic, field-sequential system’ and ‘improved chromoscopic adapter’ which helped enable the colour transmissions. In 1942 he obtained the patent, and in 1946, he finally screened colour images direct from his Mexico City lab.

Most scholars have traced the origins of birthstones back to the book of Exodus in the Bible. In this book, a high priest during the time of Moses named Aaron had a special religious garment. This garment was a breastplate with 12 jewels, each of which was engraved with the names of the 12 tribes of Israel.

For today, I interviewed Lizette Jimenez. The question was, "do you like your birthstone?" she responds with, "yea because it makes me feel special." Lizette's birthstone is pink since her birth month is on October. The second person I interviewed was Isabela, same question was asked. Her answer was, "My birthstone is alright, not really what I like."

History of Easter Candy

Easter was associated with eggs as a symbol of new life. Normal eggs were used first until an egg shaped candy, which is a jelly bean, became more associated with Easter in the 1930's. People also believe the end of lent also has made easter candy expand in popularity.

What are people's top Easter candy

We interviewed four people here at GSOTA.One of the people that was interviewed was Pragya Mathuria.
My interview question was "What is the top easter candy for you?"Her response was "Reese's eggs because there is the right amount of peanut butter and chocolate."
Next person that we interviewed was Shantel Tyree.
She was asked "what is the top easter candy for you?" Her response was " Chocolate bunnies because they are all over the store."
Wanessa Belizaire was the third person that was interviewed. She was asked " what is the top easter candy for you?" Her response was "Chocolate easter bunnies because they are good to eat."
Last person that was interviewed was Aniyah Dunbar.
Lastly she was asked "what is the top easter candy for you?" Her response was "Reese's because it has two of my favorite foods together in a candy".

Technicolor

Monochrome photography is what they called the first black and white camera, which was invented by a french scientist called Joseph Nicéphore. Joseph Nicéphore invented the first camera in 1826 and is now considered one of the most important inventions of all time. But unfortunately some day in 1825 while Joseph was trying to make copies of the camera he accidentally destroyed it.

The Kinetoscope was a old early exhibition motion film device which was originally designed for only one person to watch a film at a time through a small peephole viewer window. The Kinetoscope was invented by a man named Thomas Edison and William Kennedy Dickson on August 24,1891.

The Technicolor was the first camera made with color. It was made in boston 1915 by a man named Dr. Herbert Kalmus, Dr. Herbert Kalmus also made a movie called "The Black Pirate". Unfortunately for Dr. Kalmus the Technicolor couldn't really see all the colors clearly, which were three colors, red, blue, and green, sometimes if someone tried to film something purple it would either come out black, or brown.

The History of Harry Potter

Joanne Rowling was born on July 31, 1965, in Yate, England. She adopted her pen name, J.K., incorporating her grandmother's name, Kathleen, for the latter initial. She graduated from the University of Exeter. What got Mrs. Rowling to write those amazing books and craft such a wonderful franchise? She was inspired by her favorite teacher, Lucy Shepherd, who taught her the importance of structure and precision in writing. When she was a young teenager, Rowling's great-aunt gave her Hons and Rebels, the autobiography of the civil rights activist Jessica Mitford. Rowling said that the first book to inspire her was Kenneth Grahame's children's fantasy The Wind in the Willows, read to her when she had the measles at age 4.

What is Harry Potter about?

The main story arc concerns Harry's conflict with Lord Voldemort, a dark wizard who intends to become immortal, overthrow the wizard governing body known as the Ministry of Magic and subjugate all wizards and Muggles (which are people with no magic). Harry Potter is a wizard, the only child of James and Lily Potter. He is famous for having survived an attack by Lord Voldemort when he was a baby. He is also sometimes known as 'The Boy Who Lived'. For the first eleven years of his life Harry lives with his mean aunt and uncle and is unaware of his wizarding roots.

Questions that can't be solved

The Questions

Questions can be two things, they can have an answer or they don't have an answer but some questions can be the exception. Some questions can only be answered by a person's opinion like did the chicken cross the road. Today, we are going to ask people three weird questions and see there answers.Unsolvable questions are called rhetorical questions.These types of questions are meant to be a challenge and don't really have one answer. They are meant to be like questions to ask when you are broad but some people make it there life's mission.

Kurt Gödel discovered in the 1930s that some questions are impossible to prove true or false. He even said these types of questions are "undecidable". Over some years, people came together and found questions that are unanswerable (most of them being math questions).

I asked some people around GSOTA these "unsolvable questions" that don't really have an answer.

1: What came first, the chicken or the egg
2: Do stairs go up or down
3: Do bald people get dandruff
4: Are kids that act in "R" rated movies allowed to see the movies
5: Is a hotdog a sandwich

For the first question, out of 16 people, 10 people choose egg. For the second question, out of 8 people, 7 people choose up but some people said that they go both ways which makes sense. For the third question, out of 15 people, 8 people choose no but one person that said yes made really good points about how dandruff works and that bald people can still get dandruff. For the fourth question, out of 14 people, 9 people said yes. For the fifth, out of 16 people, 11 people choose no and some people said if it was a sandwich, why is it not called a sandwich.

Transportation inspectors inspect goods and equipment associated with transporting people or cargo to ensure safety. The demand for transportation inspectors is increasing by 12% from 2020 to 2030, as stated by CareerOneStop.

Flight attendants provide routine services and respond to emergencies to ensure the safety and comfort of airline passengers throughout their flight. This job outlook has a growth rate of 21% between 2021 to 2031, according to BLS.

Requirements: usually a bachelor's degree in the field, having some fairly extensive on-the-job training, experience in maintenance for the mode of transportation to be qualified for, and typical skills including dexterity, math skills, and mechanical skills.

Requirements: (depends) at least two-years of college or two-years of experience in customer service, travel, or a related field. Having attentiveness, communication skills, customer-service skills, decision-making skills, and average physical stamina.

Poetry can be a paragraph or simply a sentence but either way it can still hold so much to think about in your mind. Poetry can tell a story about love or life itself that can be liking or hating the thing they are talking about. They can talk about chocolate and their deep hatred of it or trees and their vast love for them. Poetry can also make you feel a certain way by putting the setting in great detail that it puts you in that place yourself. Like the beach, it talks about them in very strong detail like the Soft sand or the Ocean water. Poetry is a great art that almost feels like magic of how it guides you to what it saying or feels in that sentence or paragraph.
