Class spotlight

At Gardens School of Technology Arts, our students feel welcomed by our GSOTA staff members. Our school keeps up with the 21st century and modern times. Our cafeteria lunch is very liked by a lot of students. At GSOTA we are such a loving and welcoming community.

This week we had interviewed Ms Brown who teaches 3rd grade and asked her some questions about her class.

When we asked her what her class has accomplished she said:"They have done amazing on the Christmas projects about world cultures and explained it very well."

When we asked her, "How do you feel about your class? She said ,"I have the greatest kids in the world, the most amazing kids you will ever meet, and they have the best grades in the school."

Lastly we asked her, "If there is one thing you can change about your class, what would it be? She said, "I would make the classroom bigger and add more technology".

Apex Legends is a free to play battle royale hero shooter game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. It was released for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One in February 2019, for Nintendo Switch in March 2021, and for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in March 2022. Apex Legends is a first-person, online multiplayer game published by Electronic Arts and developed by Respawn Entertainment. Set on a distant planet in the aftermath of a galactic war, players take on the role of a characters fighting in huge gladiatorial games for the entertainment of unseen settlers. It takes part in a place called Outlands where both humans and robots are forced to battle it out for victory in the Apex Games. 20 squads of three players are fighting it out in a furious battle for survival.

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare first came out October 25, 2019, it's a fun multiplayer game to play, or a solo game, it's about a CIA officer and British SAS forces as they team up with rebels from the fictional Republic of Urzikstan, combating together against Russian Armed Forces who have invaded the country and the Urzik terrorist group Al-Qatala, while searching for a stolen shipment of chlorine gas. And also did you know that 2019's Modern Warfare is a reboot of the series, featuring a younger Cpt. Price, many new faces, and a completely new story. MW takes place in the fictional country of Urzikstan. The story kicks off when a chemical agent is stolen from CIA officer "Alex" by unknown forces.

Mario Kart 8 came out May 29, 2014. since its release, Mario Kart 8 has sold over 8 million units, and is the best-selling Wii U game. Post-release, Mario Kart 8 has received several software updates and downloadable content, including additional characters, courses, and vehicles. Mario Kart 8 is a racing video game, players are able to control characters, there are 36 different playable characters, including 16 default characters and 14 Unlockable Characters. They may also hinder their opponents or improve their performance using power-ups found in item boxes throughout the course.

LittleBigPlanet 3 is a puzzle-platform game developed by Sumo Digital for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 it was first published everywhere on November 18, 2014. LittleBigPlanet 3 is all about creativity. You can not only customize your own levels in different modes of the game, but you can also customize the appearance of your Sackboy with different items and objects that you collect in the game or through DLC costumes that can be purchased in the Playstation store. There's many different choices of games you could play like horror, adventure and fantasy, ect.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, was released on December 7, 2018. The game received reviews on how the game is so entertaining and fun, with some critics calling it the best of the series. Super Smash Bros Ultimate is about a who fights up to eight players (or less) in which characters from Nintendo games and other third party franchises must try to knock each other out of an arena. Smash Bros Ultimate is also known for its unique gameplay objective from traditional fighting games, in that the aim is to increase damage counters and knock opponents off the stage instead of consume life bars.

Pogona

The Common Basilik is a species of lizard that belongs to the family Corytophanidae. They are also known as the Jesus Lizard because it walks on water like Jesus. They live near rivers, lakes, and streams. They can run on water by Rapidly Churning their legs, as they slap their splayed feet hard against the water, they make an air pocket between the water and their feet keeping them from sinking into the water.

They have a lifespan of 7 years and they have an insectivorous diet which means they rely on Insects and other bugs for food. Ms. Axelrad says, " They are like baby dinosaurs." They are really cute Lizards with cool abilities

Pogona is a genus of reptiles containing six lizard species which are often known as Bearded Dragons. They usually live 10 to 15 years or more and they are omnivores. Their diets consist of plants and insects like grasshoppers, moths, slugs, mealworms, spiders, earthworms, etc. They can hold their breath for up to two minutes at a time and bearded dragons have amazing vision and hearing.

Meaning of being an addict

Addiction is when someone is constantly craving for something intensely, they can't turn it down because they have lost control over wanting it, no matter the consequences. Addiction changes the way the brain reacts to the thing you're addicted to. It is hard to stop a really intense addiction to something, but it is possible.

How people become an addict/get addicted to things

Addiction can happen when someone is constantly doing/repeating something over and over nonstop, they eventually get an addiction. Most people get addicted to things that satisfy them for example, not doing homework. First it could start as just a forgotten mistake but then you keep doing it over and over and then you get lazy and never want to do it, so you get addicted to never trying/doing your homework. "Threat brain, our oldest emotion-motivation system enables us to recognize and respond to danger (survival). Drive brain motivates us to seek out pleasurable and rewarding experiences (accumulation). Safe brain motivates us to rest, recover and form relationships with others (affiliation). When all three motivation systems are working together, we are less likely to get trapped in harmful "loops" of feeling, thinking and behaving.
Unfortunately, many of us do get caught in unhelpful habits that are sustained because these motivation systems are dysregulated and out of balance. Effects of being an addict

Being an addict can get you lung or heart disease, stroke, cancer, or mental health conditions. You get strong cravings to whatever your addicted to, the more intense the craving the harder it'll be if you try to stop. Addiction has long effects on an individual person and gets worse if you don't try to stop. Depending on what your addicted to, it is possible your body system could be getting weaker. It changes the way your brain works and reacts to things, and it can mess up emotions. If bad enough it could be possible for death. It can condone violence, making you get violent without meaning too. You could gain disorders or mental problems.

My Strange Addictions

Robert, 23, from Oakland, Tennessee, has been eating plastic bags since he was seven years old. A man is so addicted to eating plastic bags he even steals them from grocery stores to satisfy his cravings. Since his addiction began, he has consumed a staggering 60,000 bags, which is enough to cover an entire US football field.

The lady who liked to drink paint because it felt like a "thicker version of warm milk" on her throat.

What did females wear during the 70's?

For women, the Hippie look of the 1960's carried over to the early ‘70s. Popular styles included bell bottom pants, frayed jeans, midi skirts, maxi dresses, tie-dye, peasant blouses, and ponchos. Some of the women in the 70's who didn't go for a Hippie look wore more of a dressy or dressy casual wardrobe, they also wore tight T-shirts, dresses with a fitted wide lapel blazer, flared pants, sweaters, cardigans, and boots.

What did males wear during the 70's?

Fashion in the 70's were showing a new interest in clothing and self-expression. In the 70's they basically just continued what people used to wear during the 60's the themes were like Pop Art, Op Art, and psychedelia with bold prints in bright colors as well as with ethnic elements. Bohemian styles of the hippies mixed Victorian with fantastic colors as well as with ethnic elements.

For males fashion was largely influenced by bright colors and textures. Satin shirts, sometimes with ruffles or lace, were often pared with hip-hugging bell bottoms. Bright colored three piece and double breasted suits in corduroy, paisley, wool, and crushed velvet were popular for special and even every day occasions. More casual looks for men included bell bottom jeans, tie-dye, flannel shirts, pleated pants, and sweaters with oxford shoes, platforms, flips flops, or boots.

Accessories

To add to their outfits they wore some accessories like chokers, headbands, scarves, they wore jewelry made out of wood, stones, feathers and beads.

These flying fairies are scarier than they appear to be. The princess doll spins up into the air with the simple pull of the launcher's rope, accidentally landing in people's faces. According to CNN, Galoob Toys Inc. recalled around 8.9 million of these toys in 2000 after receiving 150 reports of eye injuries, scraped transplants, broken teeth, facial fractures, and even a severe concussion. This put an end to the playthings' hazardous reputation.

These dolls could be fed plastic carrots and fries by children, but if they got too close, the strong mechanical jaws would instead chomp down on anything, even fingers and hair. After much thought, Mattel decided to take a chance and give the roughly 500,000 owners who would have become victims of a feeding frenzy a $40 refund.

The most recent statistics show that each year, the bounce pads send roughly 90,000 patients to the hospital. The American Academy of Pediatrics strongly discourages trampolining for fun. Accidental bumps, slips, and landings can result in fatalities, concussions, fractured bones, and paralysis.

Magnetix
The magnetix contained building sets made of plastics that could break open spilling small and powerful magnets that curious toddlers could quickly put them into their mouths and swallow them. This is very dangerous to the digestive system because they connect with each other forming huge lumps that cut off blood supply to critical organs when they twist intestines. This can lead to painful death in a matter of hours. In 2005, a 22 month old baby died after ingesting the magnetix. However, the toy was rebranded by Mega Bloks in 2008.
