Mr. Brown is our new middle school teacher that started this year. He is not really known, so today, we're going to change that. Today, we're going to ask him some questions.

The questions I asked
1: What do you teach?
2: How long have you been working as a teacher?
3: What is your greatest achievement?
4: What are some things that you like about your job?
5: What are some challenges about your job?
6: how many grades have you taught?
7: What are 3 things that you like that a lot of people don't know?

Responses
Here are his responses to the questions. He teaches Civics, US History, and Geography. He said that he has been teaching in this area for 7 years but he said in total he taught for 10 years. He said his greatest achievement is becoming a dad. He also said he likes seeing his students succeed. His greatest challenge is getting his students to care about the stuff he teaches. He taught all of middle school (6-8), all of high school (9-12), and tutored 4th and 5th grade. He likes hockey, dad jokes, and indian food.

Spring can be described as a time of rebirth, renewal and awakening. Many trees are blossoming and early flowers are pushing through the earth. With grass turning green, birds singing, and flowers blooming to life, it’s time to celebrate this blissful season by doing some spring activities! Here are a few activities to get in the spring spirit.

This popular, family-friendly sport is something the whole family can enjoy! All you need is a frisbee disc, a working pair of shoes, and somewhere to play disc golf (a disc golf course)!
The objective of disc golf is to have fun and complete the course in the fewest throws.

Spring is the best season for kite-flying. It is a traditional folk activity, and has a history of more than 2,000 years.
A kite flies by wind that blows on it – some of the wind hits directly, over, and under the kite. The wind that goes underneath helps lift the kite off the ground.

Spring is the season for these outdoor activities: letterboxing and geocaching!
They combine hiking, orienteering, and creative problem solving to lead participants to a hidden “treasure.” In both, the objective is to find a waterproof box hidden in a park or other public location, following clues left by the person who hid it.

I interviewed a couple students here at GSOTA about what activities they like to do in the blooming season of spring. A 6th grader stated that she likes to draw flowers during spring. A student in 8th grade said he likes to walk and enjoy nature in this season.

Is there anything more humbling than gazing up at the heavens above? Pick a clear night, find a quiet spot away from city lights, and bring a telescope or even just a blanket to gaze up. You can look online to find what stars (or planets) to pick out of your night sky. Or time your stargazing for a night when there’s a meteor shower for a spectacular show.

When those long, hot summer days start getting you down, break out some fun ingredients and make your own popsicles. You may have to buy a mold like this one on Amazon, but there isn’t much else you’ll need; things like fruit juice, fresh fruit and yogurt are just some of the ways to make your own yummy popsicles.
If you’re lucky enough to have a backyard that gets some decent sun, planting a garden is one of the best, low-cost things to do in the summer. It’ll keep you busy all season long, and bonus – you’ll enjoy fresh, delicious produce, too! No backyard? No problem! Tons of herbs and veggies – like tomatoes, peppers, carrots and basil – do really well in containers.

History Of Water Parks!
George Millay and the First Official Water Park creator was the First ever water park in the world, As theme parks were on the rise in the in the 50's and 60's, an entrepreneur named George Millay opened the first Sea World in the United States in 1964 in San Diego. Intrigued by the initial designs of water slides, Millay went on to form the first official water park located in Orlando, Florida in the year 1977.  Because of its popularity, more were opened throughout the United States, Mexico and Brazil. Waterslides quickly evolved over the next several years. They were built to accommodate more and more people as the trend continued, and to continue the excitement they were developed to be taller and faster. Water parks were quick to incorporate other attractions as well. Very quickly, zero depth entry pools and splash pools became popular with families with small children.

Ballet is a very important part of a dancers life because in ballet dancers need technique and ballet shapes dancers to have technique. Ballet is actually one of the most difficult type of dance because in ballet you need to have complete control of your body. According to pbt.org,"Ballet originated in the Italian Renaissance courts of the 15th century. Noblemen and women were treated to lavish events, especially wedding celebrations, where dancing and music created an elaborate spectacle. Dancing masters taught the steps to the nobility, and the court participated in the performances." Ballet can be a fun sport for people who like discipline and doing a sport indoors.
Ballroom dancing helps with health for dancers and people. Ballroom is a type of dance where there needs to be two people so they can dance together. According to quickquickslow.com,"The first documented authority of early ballroom dancing is Jehan Thoinot'Arbeau's Orchesographie (1588) that discussed 16th-century French social dance. In 1650, Jean-Baptiste Lully introduced the Minuet to Paris a dance that would dominate the ballroom until the end of the 18th century." Ballroom dancing can be a fun sport for two people who like to dance and like to take care of their health/ well being.
Contemporary is a mix of ballet, modern, jazz and lyrical. Contemporary is one of my favorite types of dance it is easy for people who have been doing it for a while it can be calming and a way to let go of stress.According to factmonster.com,"Contemporary dance began at the start of the 20th century when US dancer Isadora Duncan (1878–1927) broke away from ballet and developed her own, more natural style. Contemporary dance has many different styles, some of them closely linked to music, such as jazz, rock and roll, and hip-hop." Contemporary is good for improving breathing and it helps some people with stress.
Hip-Hop is a very popular type of dance because of the energy that it has and it can be difficult for some people who haven't done it before. According to adancepalce.com,"Hip-hop dance began during the late 1960's and early 1970's, originally inspired by the movements of African dancing, and flourished as a new style of dance performed on the street for the people. Hip-hop incorporates aspects of modern dance, tap, and swing, integrating music and complex movements to form artistry." Hip-Hop is good for increasing confidence and movement, it also helps with teamwork.
Jazz can be a fun type of dance because it is a sassy type of dance and for jazz dancers use their attitudes ( it is a key part of dance). According to britannica.com Jazz dance developed from both 19th- and 20th-century stage dance and traditional Black social dances and their white ballroom offshoots. On the stage, minstrel show performers in the 19th century developed tap dancing from a combination of Irish jigging, English clog dancing, and African rhythmic stamping." Jazz is good for increasing strength, flexibility, coordination and also endurance.

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? by Shakespeare

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day,
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May
And summer's lease hath all too short a date;
Sometimes too hot the eye of heaven shines
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd,
And every fair from fair sometimes declines
By chance of nature's changing course untrimm'd:
By thy eternal summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st,
Nor shall death brag thou wand'rest in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st.
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.
Limerick

There was an Old Man with a Beard by Edward Lear

There was an old man with a beard
Who said,"it's just as I feared"
Two owls and a hen
Four larks and a wren
Have all built their nest in my beard.

Elegy

"In Memorial A.H.H" by Alfred Lord Tennyson

I hold it true, whate'er befall
I feel it when I sorrow most;
Tis better to have loved and lost
Than to never be loved at all"
Well, to name a few there is Haiku, Sonnet, Acrostic, Limerick, and Elegy. Haiku is a type of Poetry that originated from Japan that traditionally consists of 3 phrases composed of 17 phonic units in a 5,7,5 type pattern. A Sonnet is a 14 line poem that uses the rhyme schemes, in English it's typical to have 10 syllables per line. Acrostics is when a poem on the first letter of each line spells out a word, message, or simply the alphabet. Limerick is a humorous poem that is only five lines and has a rhyme scheme just like a Sonnet. While Limerick is funny and sometimes Crude Elegy is more about serious reflection but usually a lament for the "unalive".

History of Fahrenheit 451
History of 1984
Fahrenheit 451 is a 1953 dystopian novel by American writer Ray Bradbury. Fahrenheit 451 talks about an American society where books have been embodied and prohibited and "firemen" burn any that are found. While it didn't become an instant classic when first published in 1953, Fahrenheit 451 has since grown into a cultural touchstone thanks to its perception on the significance of reported knowledge and freedom of expression in a democratic society.
What is it about?
1984 is a dystopian social science fiction novel and cautionary tale by English writer George Orwell. It was published on 8 June 1949 by Secker & Warburg as Orwell's 9th and final book completed in his lifetime.
What is it about?
Fahrenheit 451 tells the story of Guy Montag and his transformation from a book-burning fireman to a book-reading rebel. Montag lives in an oppressive society that attempts to eliminate all sources of complexity, discrepancy, and confusion to ensure straightfoward happiness for all its citizens.
1984 takes place in a fictionalized version of London at some unspecified time in the future. Within the novel, London is the capitol of a province called Airstrip One, which is itself part of the nation of Oceania. It follows the life of Winston Smith, a low ranking member of 'the Party', who is frustrated by the omnipresent eyes of the party, and its ominous ruler Big Brother. 'Big Brother' controls every aspect of people's lives. There are even thought police who could arrest you just for thinking or saying something against Big Brother.
