HOW YOU CAN MAKE YOUR LIBRARY HANDBOOK
MORE ACCESSIBILE

1. Add captions to your videos to improve understanding for deaf, hard of hearing students, English language learners, and special education students.

2. Add transcripts to audio recording hot spots. Choose from 120 different languages.

3. Use legible font colors and sizes.

4. Remember that contrast is important. Use light text on a dark background, or dark text on a light background.

5. Add alternative text to your images so that they will be read aloud by Book Creator.

Did you know...
- you can modify panels by unlocking boxes, changing their sizes, and even removing them?
- you can create your own panels by copying and pasting boxes from different panels and combining them?
- you can give a shadow to box borders, change the color and thickness of borders, and remove borders altogether?
- you can search for images directly in a box or upload your own image?
- you can "crop" images in a box by enlarging and repositioning them?
- you must choose a comic format when you begin creating your book to have access to the panel feature?

MISSION STATEMENT

Donald miller is a master at marketing. he explains that a mission statement has three key components:
1. the problem
2. the solution
3. the reward

When you create a mission statement think about the main problem, how your library program can solve that problem, and how your students' lives will be changed when this problem is solved.

You can take this one step further and define the three key characteristics needed to accomplish this mission, as well as the three critical actions that people can take to contribute to your mission.

Creating a mission statement, defining three key characteristics, and determining the three critical actions is a productive way to develop relationships with your library team and administration.
