Autumn 1.2 Class 4 2021

We have been creating work based on Mondrian and Kandinsky using shapes, lines and primary colours.

We have been learning how to use different functions on a paint programme such as the paint brush, fill, undo, eraser and save. We have been creating different images using these functions on the paint programme. 

We created winter art to contrast to the autumnal paintings. We looked the different colours that represented the winter and discovered how white and black paint can affect other colours. The children created different shades of blue and grey to paint a winter picture.

We designed Christmas cards with two different functions - sliders and levers. Once we had completed the designs we made prototypes so that we could evaluate and improve our design ideas.

We have been learning important fundamental skills such as skipping, jumping, throwing, travelling backwards and punting.

We created our Christmas cards using split pins and sliders. We checked they worked by moving them. Brilliant designs!

The children participated in a Santa Dash! They had to complete many different obstacles such as the hurdles and the ladders. It was lots of fun as we ran to Christmas music.

The children have been exploring how to make autumnal colours using the primary colours. They mixed them together to create different coloured tree such as red, green, orange and brown. They discovered mixing all three primary colours made brown. The children also used charcoal, pastels and chalk to add branches and additional detail.

The children have been developing their balancing skills by performing different yoga poses such as the tree pose.
