Class 4 We are on Safari

The children have been learning how to use a computer. They learnt how to switch it on, login and select various programs to use. We have been using Microsoft PowerPoint for our research project on Africa. The children used "Kidrex" to safely search on the internet. The children have been saving their work each week so that they could add more to it.

We made jars using clay. We looked at the materials and colours used to make jars. The children moulded the clay with their fingers and painted them once it had dried. 

Bunting border

We discovered that many people have to walk great distances to collect water. The children were challenged to carry different sized buckets filled with water around our playground. They quickly realised, water is heavy! 

We learnt about the Maasai Tribe and the masks they wear. We mixed the primary colours together to make brown paint to create masks.

We learnt about the different types of jewellery the Maasai tribe wear. We discovered that they like very bright colours! We cut out and designed our own necklaces using bright colours. 

We each got a bottle of water to raise money for the charity "Water Aid". We wrote instructions to help raise money. We took the bottles home to drink so that we could fill the bottles with money to give to Water Aid. Well done everyone! 

Bright ideas border

We have been learning how to program Beebots. The children challenged themselves to move the Beebot across the mats. They also learnt how to 'debug' the Beebot if they made a mistake.
