Class 4 - Spring 2.2
English
We have had great fun reading the Curious Case of the Missing Mammoth. We widen our vocabulary by looking at the language used in the book such as peered and extinct. The boy and the mammoth went into the museum to search for the baby mammoth. This was a great opportunity for the children to write simple noun phrases such as white polar bear and pink flamingo.
Maths
We have been counting on by 2/3 numbers up to 20. The children have learnt many skills to support them to solve these mathematical problems such as using counters, tens frames, and number lines.
Telling the Time
We have been learning how to tell the time. The children have worked hard to learn lots of new vocabulary - clock face, minute hand, hour hand, o'clock, and half past. We discussed special numbers to remember - 6, 12, 24 hours in a day, 60 seconds and 60 minutes.

We have also sequenced our day and linked this to days of the week. Copy the link to enjoy singing the days of the week song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tx0rvuXIRg
Science
This term have we have been learning about the signs of Spring and the changes we notice from winter to spring. We have learnt how there is more day light, the weather is getting warmer and plants and trees are beginning to grow.
We have been monitoring the weather throughout March using a weather chart to identify the different types of weather. The children have enjoyed looking at the weather each day. This has supported their knowledge so that they can name different types of weather such as sunshine, rain, snow and wind.
