Baza is a small town located in the south of Andalusia, Spain. It has been a very influential city in history, especially as an archaeological site of cultural interest. It has been part of great civilizations in history like the Iberians, the Romas, the Visigoths, the Nasrid Arabs and the christians of the Spanish Kingdom after the Reconquista.

Baza es una pequeña ciudad situada en el sur de España. ha sido una ciudad muy influyente en la historia, sobre todo como lugar arqueológico y de interés cultural en la cultura del país. Ha conforamado parte de grandes civilizaciones.

Η Baza είναι μια μικρή πόλη που βρίσκεται στα νότια της Ισπανίας, στην Ανδαλουσίας. Υπήρξε μια πόλη με μεγάλη επιρροή στην ιστορία, ειδικά ως σημείο αναφοράς για τον πολιτισμό της χώρας. Σώζει ως σήμερα τα ίχνη μεγάλων πολιτισμών από την αρχαιότητα ως σήμερα, όπως των Ιβήρων, των Ρωμαίων, των Βησιγότθων, των Αράβων και των χριστιανών βασιλέων της Καστίλης.

Caños Dorados
Fuente monumental situada junto a la antigua Puerta del Peso. Fue construida a principios del siglo XVII. Consta de una pila con cuatro caños que salen de cabezas humanas y de león, así como de un frontal dividido por pilastras toscanas.

Monumental fountain situated by the old Puerta del Peso. It was built at the beginning of the 17th century. It consists of a basin with four spouts coming from lion and human heads, as well as a front divided by Tuscan pilasters.

Μνημειώδες σιντριβάνι που βρίσκεται δίπλα στην παλιά Puerta del Peso. Χτίστηκε στις αρχές του 17ου αιώνα. Αποτελείται από μια λεκάνη με τέσσερις βρύσες που προέρχονται από κεφάλια λιονταριών και ανθρώπων, καθώς και από μια πρόσοψη που ορίζεται από παραστάδες ρυθμού Τοσκάνης.

La ubicación actual del Ayuntamiento de Baza se encuentra en un edificio del siglo XVIII, frente a la Plaza Mayor, recientemente restaurado. Destaca el patio central con pilares de piedra caliza y una arcada con ladrillos.

The current location of Baza Town Hall is located in a 18th century building, in front of the Plaza Mayor, recently restored. There stand out the central courtyard with limestone pillars and an arcade with bricks.

Το σημερινό Δημαρχείο της Baza βρίσκεται σε ένα κτίριο του 18ου αιώνα, μπροστά στην όμορφη πλατεία Δημαρχείου, το οποίο ανακαινίστηκε πρόσφατα. Εκεί ξεχωρίζει η κεντρική αυλή με ασβεστολιθικούς κίονες και μια στοά με τούβλα.

Η Fiesta de Cascamorras είναι ένα φεστιβάλ που λαμβάνει χώρα στις πόλεις Guadix και Baza στην επαρχία της Γρανάδας, στην Ισπανία, κάθε χρόνο στις 6 Σεπτεμβρίου. Οι δύο πόλεις αγωνίζονται για την κατοχή ενός αγάλματος της Virgen de la Piedad. Το 2013, το φεστιβάλ ανακηρύχθηκε Γιορτή Διεθνούς Τουριστικού Ενδιαφέροντος της Ισπανίας.

Το Guadix και η Baza είναι δύο πόλεις της Ανδαλουσίας, γειτονικές, αδερφές και αντίπαλες. Ο Cascamorras, ένας εργάτης από το Guadix, βρήκε μια θαμμένη ιερή εικόνα της Virgen de la Piedad (Η Παναγία του Ελέους) ενώ εργαζόταν στη γη της Baza. Ενθαρρυμένος από τους συμπατριώτες του, προσπάθησε να μεταφέρει την ιερή εικόνα στο Guadix, αλλά ένας ντόπιος της Μπάθα την άρπαξε πριν φτάσει. Όταν ο Cascamorras επέστρεψε στο Guadix με άδεια χέρια, οι συμπατριώτες του, που περίμεναν την εικόνα της Παναγίας, ήταν βαθιά απογοητευμένοι. Τελικά, ο Cascamorras και λαός του Guadix συμφιλιώθηκαν και προσευχήθηκαν στην Παναγία της Baza. Costume of a modern "Cascamorras"

La Fiesta de Cascamorras es una fiesta que se lleva a cabo en los pueblos de Guadix y Baza en la provincia de Granada, España, anualmente el 6 de septiembre. Los dos pueblos luchan por la posesión de una estatua de la Virgen de la Piedad. En 2013, la fiesta fue declarada Fiestas de Interés Turístico Internacional de España.

Historia
Guadix y Baza son dos localidades andaluzas de la Provincia de Granada, vecinas, hermanas y rivales. Cascamorras, un trabajador de Guadix, encontró enterrada una imagen sagrada de la Virgen de la Piedad mientras trabajaba en las tierras de Baza. Animado por sus paisanos guadixanos, intentó llevar la sagrada imagen a Guadix, pero los bazanes se la arrebataron antes de que él llegara, castigando lo que consideraban un robo sagrado. Cuando Cascamorras regresó a Guadix con las manos vacías, sus compatriotas, que esperaban la imagen de la Virgen, quedaron profundamente decepcionados y persiguieron con saña a quienes consideraban responsables de su frustración. Finalmente héroe y pueblo se reconciliaron, rezaron a la Virgen que se encontraba en el otro pueblo. Desde entonces, recordando aquellos acontecimientos que los unen y los oponen, Baza y Guadix celebran durante tres días a finales de verano de cada año la Fiesta de Cascamorras.

Anticipating the next Fiesta de Cascamorras

The Fiesta de Cascamorras is a festival that takes place in the towns of Guadix and Baza in the province of Granada, Spain, annually on September 6. The two towns fight for possession of a statue of the Virgen de la Piedad. In 2013, the festival was declared a Fiestas of International Tourist Interest of Spain.

History
Guadix and Baza are two Andalusian towns, neighbors, sisters and rivals. Cascamorras, a worker from Guadix, found a buried sacred image of the Virgen de la Piedad (Our Lady of Mercy) while working on the land of Baza. Encouraged by his Guadixan countrymen, he attempted to carry the sacred image to Guadix, but Bazans snatched it before he arrived. When Cascamorras returned to Guadix empty-handed, his countrymen, who expected the image of the Virgin, were deeply disappointed. Finally, they reconciled and prayed to the Virgin who was in Baza. Since then, recalling those events that unite and oppose them, Baza and Guadix celebrate the Fiesta de Cascamorras for three days early September of each year.
