Joanne Kathleen Rowling ( now known as J.K Rowling) was born on July 31, 1965 in Yate, United Kingdom. Her parents were Anne and Peter Rowling, and her sister was Dianne Rowling. Joanne wrote her first book at the age of 6. She called it, 'Rabbit'. At the age of 11, she wrote her first novel. It was about 7 cursed Diamonds and the people that owned them.

J.K Rowling went to many schools: ST Michael's Primary school,Wyedean school, ect. She studied writing at ST Michael's .In college, she studied French , in classics, or in french and classics at University of Exeter. She graduated college in 1986.After college, she went to work at Amnesty International. The organization focuses on human rights.There she started to write Harry Potter adventures.

Writing Career

In 1990, J.K Rowling started to write the Harry Potter books. So far, there are 8 books in the series. She has also written other books. Here are some examples: The Ickabog, The Christmas Pig, The tales of Beedle the Bard. These are just a few books to name. In total, she has at least written 19 books. Now, back to the Harry Potter books. The original Harry Potter was rejected 12 times. She is still writing today.

Awards

Rowling has won many awards. She has one the Kids Choice award for favorite book, Locus award for best fantasy,and the Andre Martin award. These are just a few awards to name. In total,she has won 37 awards. One award she won early on in her career was the Order of the British Empire (O.B.E) for services to children's literature, 2000.

Movies

Besides writing books, J.K Rowling has also written movies. She has written at least 9 movies about Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts. Her newest movie is Fantastic beast: Secrets of Dumbledore. She has made at least $700 from the Harry Potter films alone.
