Pupils from Primary School of Ormilia, Chalkidiki, Greece, in March 2020, studied plant and animal cells, the role of photosynthesis and made some drawings.

Science is all around us - our bodies, in nature etc. There is no limit to what you can do with science and the children absolutely love it. So as teachers we should provide experimental learning environments for our kids to get better education.

&nbsp;What happens when we mix baking soda and vinegar? When we add a little vinegar to baking soda, we will notice foam appear due to the forming of gas bubbles that fill the balloon.

Finally, three experiments were conducted using materials found in the kitchen. The whole procedure was very interesting and the children enjoyed it!!!

Turkish Ministry of Ecucation organized science fair for students.There were different kinds of activities to develop students’ knowledge about space, human body, technology, nutrition etc. Turkish Project team took students to that fair. Participating in that&nbsp;fair was a great change for students. They had so much fun and did lots of experiments.

What causes iron to rust? We investigated the conditions under which an iron nail would rust first? Whether it would be in a glass filled with boiled water, tap water, salted water or a glass filled with boiled water to which we added a bit of oil?

With this yummy experiment, the students could learn how to make simple cakes in a mug, as well as find out the function of each ingredient in the cake dough and which of them is responsible for making cakes big and fluffy. They could also learn a little more about the physical and chemical phenomena that are behind the success of this recipe.

The influence of the seasons on the life cycle of a snowdrop How do the seasons affect the life cycle of a snowdrop? A Tellurium model for simulating the mutual position of the Sun, Earth, and Moon. By turning the solar system into the appropriate position in all four seasons (spring, summer, fall, and winter), we tried to predict what the life cycle of a snowdrop would be at a particular time of the year.

The students continued to play and learn with food and carried out another fascinating experiment, this time with purple cabbage.&nbsp;

Finally, students discovered how chemistry and physics are involved in the kitchen. They also contacted some experiments.

LEARNING ABOUT CELLS, MIGROORGANISMS AND PHOTOSYNTHESIS

Students at Dimotiko Scholeio Tseriou studied about animal and plant cells and photosynthesis. Then they created their own cell drawings and models.

LEARNING ABOUT NUTRITION WITH POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE EFFECTS IN HUMAN LIFE

EXPERIMENTS: INVISIBLE INK USING LEMON

5th grade students carried out this funny experiment where they learned how to make invisible ink to write secret messages. All they needed was some basic household objects and the hidden power of lemon juice.&nbsp;

MICROSCOPIC OBSERVATION OF ANIMAL AND PLANT CELLS

The 5th grade students could observe animal cells (human blood) and vegetable cells (onion epithelium) under a microscope, in order to see the differences between both types of cells. They found out that vegetable cells have cell walls and that the others don’t. They could also observe other cell structures in both types of cells, such as the nucleus and the cytoplasm.

The material used for this presentation (photos, videos, texts) was collected by the coordinator teacher of each participating school.

Project: 'EUROPEAN FOOD ADVENTURES' ERASMUS+ KA229-School Exchange Partnerships (Cooperation for Innovation and the exchange of good practices) Project number: 2019-1-EL01-KA229-062400_3

In March 2020 the partnership schools conducted study and workshops on plant and animal cells, the role of photosyntesis, mitosis, microorganisms that feed us, chemistry in the kitchen, the role of composting. Presentation of the activities is following.

LEARNING ABOUT DIFFERENT TYPES OF TECHNOLOGIES

Students also learned about the benefits of composting and decided to make their own compost in the school yard.
