I was happy to see that TD posted her first Newsela assignment on Google Classroom on her own.

After school I stopped by to debrief with TD. To my surprise, she was helping our colleague post "Hour of Code" on GClassroom. TD taught Hello World coding. This was her first time coding or teaching coding!

TIPS Don't try too many new things at once. Make sure the teacher feels comfortable. Go at the teacher's pace. Remember teachers already have a full plate. Choose a teacher willing and wanting to learn how to empower themselves and students. Let the teacher choose the tech they would like to learn. Be patient.

TD started by thinking about which EdTech tools she wants to learn to give student power to express their learning. She chose to learn about Google Slides, Flipgrid, Screencastify, and BookCreator.

TD and I collaborate almost daily. We plan and create lessons to determine which tech tool best fits with the targeted outcome of the lesson.

We both started with a growth mindset, ready to integrate SEL and equity into STEAM lessons that empowered students. I wanted to promote teacher agency, confidence, and new edtech tool skills.

After building a positive and professional relationship to ensure trust, we began to learn together.

We will ensure individual success for all students, regardless of preconceived notions of who is and who is not able to learn technology. We will work to ensure equitable practices by creating inclusive, multicultural environments and opportunities that exclude cultural or gender biases. Our goal is to cultivate our students' individual interests and talents so they are able to express their learning in creative ways that is unique and student- centered.

My Aspiration Statement

Just like with our students, it's crucial to build a trusting relationship with our peers. I have known my colleague over fifteen years. We have a lot of trust in each other. This allows us both to take educational risks.

I taught the lesson above and TD taught the lesson below.

We discussed how we wanted to empower students. I started teaching Book Creator to the class. This will give students a new digital tool and technology that has the power to enhance learning.

Students articulate and set personal learning goals to develop strategies leveraging technology to achieve their goals and reflect on the learning process itself to improve learning outcomes.

Students understand the fundamental concepts of technology operations and use them to demonstrate the ability to choose, use and troubleshoot current technologies and they are able to transfer their knowledge to further explore emerging technologies.
