Thunderstorms commonly occur in the south of the UK- the warmer temperatures and more humid atmosphere often bring out  storm and cumulus clouds. More mountainous regions such as Scotland and Newcastle upon Tyne are colder and more rainy, because of the way rain clouds develop.

The British Isles is surrounded entirely by seas. It is located in the Northern Hemisphere, above France. It is connected to Europe through the English Channel.

The British Isles are made up of two countries. Those two countries are the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. The United Kingdom is made up of four nations: 🇬🇧 England 🇬🇧 Scotland 🇬🇧 Wales 🇬🇧 Northern Ireland

Steyning Steyning is a town and civil parish in the Horsham district of West Sussex, in the South East of the UK. Steyning is a rural area with many cottage-looking houses and a few paved roads. It is surrounded by fields and meadows. The population of Steyning is 6,300, with many people moving for their for a quiet, peaceful life.

Being an island, lots of people have moved to the UK - from 10,000 BC to current times. This could be for many reasons - better jobs, a different life, fleeing wars. 

Definitions of key terms: Refugee: A person who has been forced to flee from danger. Asylum seeker: A person who flees to another country for safety, and asks permission to stay there. Emigrant: A person who leaves her/his own country to settle there. Invaders: Someone who enters a country to try and conquer it. Economic migrant: Someone who comes to another country for better jobs and a higher salary / better state of living.

	The UK was prior a very wealthy country, with high economy rates, peaking at 7th in the world. But the UK £ has weakened and they are currently in a financial and economic crisis, the Pound has currently weakened. 

	But the UK is succesful in other ways. A lot of artists, authors and athletes have come out of the UK. They sell and buy a lot of goods and recieve a lot of tourists each year. However, their recent decision to leave the EU has negatively impacted their importing and exporting products.

About 200,000 people have moved to the UK as migrants since 2000.

Lewis Hamiltion, named Britain's greatest athlete is world record holder for Formula 1 pole positions and has tied the F1 champion records. He has donated a lot of money to charity and participates in campaigns for global equality. 

Birmingham Birmingham is the second largest city in the UK by population, with 1.49 (as of 2019) million living and growing up there. Birmingham is a vastly urban city, with many businesses and corporations based there. There are restaurants and cinemas, and people move here for good job opportunities. Birmingham also provides many educational services, such as the University of Birmingham.

What is the British Isles?

The UK has very interchangeable weather. You can experience all four seasons in one day. The UK is commonly cold and windy, with frequent bouts of rain. The South of the UK is often warmer than the North (ie. Scotland and the North of England).
