MaKayla, Shiane, Ebenezer, Lindsay, Courtney, & Mellanese

MaKayla Pittman is a 17-year-old female, that attends Banneker High School. She grew up in a small neighborhood with adults – her mom, dad, and her younger sister, but most recently have a younger brother, which makes her the oldest. Being the oldest she is expected to always set an example. During school, she has always been a star student, A/B honor roll, and recognized for her growth. MaKayla started her first job at the age of 15 at Kroger Co., While she doesn't like it, Kroger offers scholarship funds for college. She hopes to take advantage of that opportunity. She found the pandemic quite overwhelming. Especially since she is an introvert. MaKayla's long-term career considerations are to pursue being an OB/GYN Nurse, Real Estate, Nurse Practitioner, and Cosmetology.

Shiane Williams was born July 29. Since she is an only child, her parents would take the place of her friends. Academically she has achieved A/B Honor Roll and Principal's List. She also enjoys Karate. For high school she decided to focus on academics as a student in the Benjamin Banneker High School 3DE program. During this time she completed case studies, executed a Pop-Up Shop and continues to prepare for a career in marketing and business. Shiane manages her tendency to procrastinate by setting reminders and writing down her tasks. She won an award for “Best Historian” as an 11th grade scholar. Shiane has discovered a love for forensics. Her passion is to become a Criminologist and/or a Forensic Psychologist, majoring in Sociology/Psychology. She hopes to attend either Florida A&M University, Savannah State University, Alabama State University, Fort Valley University, or Howard University. Shiane is a dual enrollment student, taking college level courses at Georgia Military College.

Ebenezer is 18 years old, still remembering the days he never had to do anything. Now he is a senior in high school in his last moments before entering the real world. Ebenezer feels optimistic about the future and beyond. At times he feels uncertain and at times he wonders “how time has passed by.” Anytime Ebenezer feels uncertain he reads and thinks in his mind “what’s next?” He thinks of what he should do and how he should accomplish it. Sometimes he does not plan, but instead takes “just do it” approach. Ebenezer enjoys baseball. He enjoys the escapism of the game, the competitiveness of the game. Ebenezer enjoys reading books on philosophy, he enjoys the objective truths and such morality in what he reads. He also enjoys reading comics, history, and mythology. He enjoys history for how it teaches a lesson of the past and to not repeat history. But like history, Ebenezer does not want to repeat those same mistakes. He does not mind quietness or to be alone. But he hates the feeling of being alone. Ebenezer has great aspirations to pursue the field of Forensics. He wants to be either a CSI, Ballistics Analyst, Toxicologist, or Pathologist.

Lindsay is a 17 year old senior at Banneker High School. She has been in the Junior Achievement/3DE business program since her freshmen year. She is proud of her A average and strives to graduate with a 4.0 and acceptance to her top schools. Lindsay is a 4 year cheerleader and majorette. Her passion outside of school is jewelry making, shopping, and doing hair. School is her top priority. She is the president of the French Honor Society and a member of several clubs like Upward Bound, Mu Alpha Theta, HOSA, and ASU. She has been actively involved in activities since she was a child. She has been living in Atlanta her whole life and plans to stay in Atlanta for college. Although, her adult life is coming faster then she expected. She plans to stay focused. Usually, she is quiet and introverted but to ensure that she speaks her mind and gets use to being in the leadership role, she pushes herself to speak up when appropriate. When she gets in college, she will major in nursing to earn a career as a travel nurse.

Courtney Thomas is an 18 year old senior at Banneker High School. In her earlier years she was an only child for 9 years. When her sisters were born, she had to adapt to a new environment. Adapt to the new chaos and disarray of her new life. In this chaos she was still able to focus on school and maintain an A average throughout school. Always having to adapt to change, she became a very quick thinker and a good team player. Although quiet, she knows how to speak up and work with any group of people. Being quiet allows her to sit back, listen, and understand what’s going on and what everyone is saying. With these skills, she plans to attend Albany State University for Architecture.

In her final year of high school, Mellanese continuously exerts effort to be successful in everything she undertakes. When she entered preschool, her father pushed her to earn all A’s. She grew up around two different parents, so she developed being an introvert from her dad and being outgoing from her mom. She earned high school credits of science, math, and English classes while in the eighth grade. Since high school she has maintained an A average. In her final year, she is finishing high school strong. One last business class is required to obtain a stole for her final year. Mellanese has established her own painting business where she sells customized paintings. Mellanese wants to attend college for free. Specifically, she wants to major in animal science or biology at a prestigious university. She wants to become a veterinarian due to her extensive love of animals.
