Introduction.........
How Are You Hello GIF by BrittDoesDesign
Welcome Class! We are about to jump into a little biology by learning about cells with this Ebook.I hope this book provides you with a fun engaging learning tool. Remember there are sections where you can work with friends, I cannot wait to see what you have learned from this book.

STANDARDS

S5L2. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information showing that some characteristics of
organisms are inherited and other characteristics are acquired.
a. Ask questions to compare and contrast instincts and learned behaviors.
b. Ask questions to compare and contrast inherited and acquired physical traits.
(Clarification statement: Punnett squares and genetics are taught in future grades.)
S5L3. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to compare and contrast the parts
of plant and animal cells.
a. Gather evidence by utilizing technology tools to support a claim that plants and animals are
comprised of cells too small to be seen without magnification.
b. Develop a model to identify and label parts of a plant cell (membrane, wall, cytoplasm,
nucleus, chloroplasts) and of an animal cell (membrane, cytoplasm, and nucleus).
c. Construct an explanation that differentiates between the structure of plant and animal cells.

Teaching Strategies
●Inquiry-based learning will be used to encourage students to engage in real-world scenarios through problem-solving and questioning.

●Cooperative learning will be used during the activity. Students will work together to build a water and insulation activity.

●Direct instruction will also be used to teach the concepts and build a foundation of knowledge prior to assessments and hands-on skills.

●Differentiated instruction will be used to accommodate all student's learning abilities.

●Hands-on learning is used during the lab activity where students will become engineers and determine how heat energy affects ice.

●Lastly, multimedia instruction will be used to help keep students engaged throughout the lesson.
SUGGESTED ASSESSMENTS
FORMATIVE
• Observation and completion of the activity
• Class discussions throughout lessons with probing questions
• Play four corners (A, B, C, D) by answering multiple-choice questions

SUMMATIVE
• Ticket out the door/Essential Questions & Vocabulary
• Have students make a slide presentation highlighting what they learned
