What do Christians believe?
Christians believe in justification by faith, that through their belief in Jesus as the Son of God, and in his death and resurrection, they can have a right relationship with God whose forgiveness was made once and for all through the death of Jesus Christ.
Trinity
Christians believe in the Trinity: that is, in God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Some confuse this and think that Christians believe in three separate gods, which they don't. Christians believe that God took human form as Jesus Christ and that God is present today through the work of the Holy Spirit and evident in the actions of believers.
How do Christians practice their belief?
Christians use different terms for the places of worship. Church would be the most common term. However there are other terms like: cathedral, chapel, meeting house, and a gospel hall. All these places are titled the places of worship.
In many places of worship, the focal point is the communication table, it emphasizes the centrality of communion in faith and worship.
Christian worship is some traditions are visually rich, sacramental, full of symbol and ritual, in other traditions simplicity, extempore prayer or silence may be emphasized.
How Did Christianity Spread?
Over time, the Christian church and faith grew more organized. In 313 AD, the Emperor Constantine issued the Edict of Milan, which accepted Christianity: 10 years later, it had become the official religion of the Roman Empire.
After Jesus, the two most significant figures in Christianity are the apostles Peter and Paul/Saul. Paul, in particular, takes a leading role in spreading the teachings of Jesus to Gentiles (non Jews) in the Roman Empire.
How did Christianity change the Roman Empire? Why would an emperor use a belief to help them govern?
An emperor may use a certain religion to rule the country, it could possibly be to help the emperor to help set boundaries and guidelines in order to keep order. For the religion, it might be able to set those boundaries because of the rules and the beliefs a religion or a practice might have. For example a rule may be not to waste food as part of the religion, then as you waste food the emperor or the enforcers will have all the right to arrest you for your actions, because you didn’t follow the belief of the religion as it is not to waste any food.
