St. Peter's Church is one of the oldest museums in bermuda at the ripe old age of 500 years old!

You can tell the church is over 500 years by the way the graveyard signs are 'bruised and tattered'.

People, alive or dead, were separated by colour. In the graveyard there was a separate graveyard for slaves and white people.

Barr's Bay Park!

In 1834 it was illegal to have slaves in Bermuda but, in 1835 a slave ship was forced to come to Bermuda due to a hurricane. They had a court session and decided to set all the slaves free except for a woman and her five kids.

Barr's Bay Park is located in Hamilton City of Bermuda near the Hamilton Harbor. The Park is named after Barr family who lived in the city since the American Revolution in the 1700s. It's a nice place to relax and have a quiet time. Barr's bay park is has a linkage to the African Diaspora Trail.

Pilot Darrell's Square

Pilot Darrell was set free on March 1st 1796, because he piloted the HM through Resolution Bermuda reefs. His great great grandchildren still live in the house today

On April 12 2007, the 19-2nd anniversary of Darrell’s death, Premier Dr. Ewart Brown presided over a ceremony in the graveyard for slaves and free blacks of St. Peter’s Church in St. George, in James Darrell’s honour.

Sally Bassett

Sarah Bassett, or known as Sally Bassett, was a mixed race woman in Bermuda. She was declared guilty and executed in 1730 because of a poisoning of three people by burning at the stake. After that it led her to be well-known of Bermuda history. Her death was placed on june 21, 1730.

If you hear someone in Bermuda say "This is a Sally Bassett day"
they mean that it is a very hot day because Sally Bassett was burned alive.
