Well... what if I tell you, if you don't do your part, part of our population will be dead and earth might overflow with water! Now you're like "What?... You're talking nonsense!" But keep on reading and see, because I'm not crazy I'll prove it to you.

Justin Lubin At the beginning of the school year you told the class about losing your Uncle Rick to Covid-19. Can you talk about that some more? Ms. Williams At the beginning of the pandemic my greatest fear was that my Uncle Rick, who was a severe diabetic, would get sick from Covid-19. I was relieved when the vaccine came out in January 2021 because I thought he would be one of the first to get his shot. However my uncle decided not to get vaccinated. Me and my mom tried to convince him to get it but he was stubborn and we were really upset about that. We were grateful Uncle Rick managed avoid Covid until August 2021. He went into the hospital because of his diabetes, and a week later he was diagnosed with Covid. We think he got it from an unvaccinated health care worker in the hospital. He died after a month of being on a ventilator, in September of 2021. The last month of his life in the hospital was very painful and lonely, no one was allowed to visit him. I wouldn't wish those kind of final days on anyone.

Justin Lubin How did his loss affect your family? Ms. Williams Uncle Rick's death was really hard for me and my husband. He was in my wedding, he took my favorite picture of us on our special day. He was a well known DJ in his town in Florida, everyone loved him. My whole family and his friends are devastated by his loss. My one wish is that people will think of the effect on their families when they decide if they want to get the vaccine. The science and the facts show the risk is very, very small, and the benefits are huge.

The group of the pilgrims were not the first Europeans the Wampanoag encountered. They have been trading with the Europeans explorers since the year 1524. Since the early 1600s, about 100,000 members of the Wampanoag lived in about 70 communities. But by the time the Mayflower arrived, the Wampanoag had been devastated by the disease the European explores like fishers or traders had brought. One of the Wampanoag community called "Patuxet" was almost wiped out. And since that moment, the pilgrims decided to build a new colony. The Wampanoag made their first contact with the pilgrims in March in the year 1621, both of this groups were struggling with their low population they have due to the diseases.

The pilgrims barely survived the first winter. They also needed allies. Then the two group have finally signed a treaty. They both agree to support each other and protect each other. In fall the tribe on the Wampanoag decided to joined the pilgrims, and crest the famous feast that we all celebrated on November each year called Thanksgiving. But wait the story does not end here in the first Thanksgiving. The historian, and also Storams Dad, said, “for us as Wampanoag people, a lot of history isn’t pretty.” As I told you, he is a historian in the Wampanoag homesite. He works at a museums near the original sport where the Wampanoag community called “Patuxet” was really located. Each time the number of Europeans settlers grew bigger they took over big pieces of land where the Wampanoag tribe had lived for thousands of years.

What do I like about being a newspaper editor? Well I have the chance to write stories that are interesting and relatable to us kids! Plus, I like to helping others. if they need help.

When I have free time I play soccer. I am part of a soccer team. The name of the team is Polineza. We have won two times. I won a trophy for the best goalkeeper. This me at my mom’s wedding. I was so happy for my parents because they were having their wedding. The party ended at 3am. I had a so much fun at the party, it was so cool.

What is your favorite pet? Is it a cat or a dog? Dogs are pretty good pets, they are very active! They also play with you and are good pets for kids. Dogs are super active becuase they like to play fetch the ball. They can play that game all day long! They also love to run around indoors and outdoors.

Dogs can be good pets for kids because you can teach them tricks. To name a few tricks dogs can do, they can roll over, jump, stand up on their back legs, and give their paw to their owner. When you teach dogs to do tricks, it can be fun and entertaining. It will also make you feel proud of how talented your dog is.

Harriet Tubman helped people escape slavery. She helped start the Underground Railroad, which was a trail that helped enslaved people go north to freedom. Click the picture to learn about how she also was a soldier and spy for the Union Army during the Civil War.

How Did They Get Here? Millions of Africans were bought by rich white people to do their work. Many people were brought to the U.S. through slave trading between Africa and North America. That was when Black people were kidnapped or sold to traders of enslaved people. The people were taken onto a ship by force, and that ship would lead them to their new enslavers across the ocean. This journey was called the middle passage, it was a horrible experience and thousands died along the way.

The Civil War (1860 - 1865) was fought over slavery. In 1863 President Lincoln declared in the Emancipation Proclamation that all enslaved people living in the southern states at war with the U.S. were free. However, slavery in the U.S. did not officially end until 1865, when the war was over. On June 19, 1865 the last enslaved people were let go and were finally able start to live normal lives. This day is now an official U.S. holiday called Juneteenth.

Have you ever heard of Hanukkah? Hanukkah is one of the holidays celebrated during the winter months. Did you know that Hanukkah has two different spelling versions? One way is 'Chanukah' and the other way is 'Hanukkah.' The celebration lasts eight days. Jewish families celebrate Hanukkah by gathering with their family to spend time and enjoy their traditions. For example, some of the traditions of Hanukkah are Festival of Lights, with a nightly&nbsp;menorah&nbsp;lighting, special prayers, playing games and fried foods.

Hello students and teachers of P.S. 249! Today's article is going to be about anime, and I’m gonna be talking about different subjects of anime in this article!

There are so many different anime series! Some examples are: Demon Slayer Sword Art Online, Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, Bleach, one piece, and so much more! Each anime show has its own story line. For example, Demon Slayer has the main characters Tanjiro and his sister. Nezeko Tanjiros's goal is to save his sister– to turn her back into the human, and he has to fight demons so he can save his sister.

In this section, I’m going to be talking about one of my favorite animes, My Hero Academia! My Hero Academia is an anime where the main protagonist Deku and his friend have super powers and Deku meets the number one hero, All Might, through immense training, and because he did everything All Might said, All Might gives him a strand of his hair. That’s how All Might’s Powers transfer to Deku.

A Day in the Life of a P.S. 249 Newspaper Writer

Kevin Galeno, 5th Grade (continued from the front page) Outside it was sunny, but inside, not that much. You could hear kids running around chasing each other on the playground. These writers wished to play too, but they had lots of business to take care of. The time was ticking down and writers were running out of time for the deadline. Everyone is working hard and focused. Since lunchtime was hours ago, the newspaper staff is hungry again, so they ate whatever they found. Everyone is working to get their work turned in so that their writing will be featured in the official first issue of the newspaper. Everybody rushes to finish because who wouldn't want their work in the "OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER''? Several writers were not happy with the amount of time they had to finish and worried that their work would not go through. Did everybody make it or did they leave a kid behind? Hopefully not, we sure had a nail biter!

Sharks have very interesting bodies. They come in different shapes and sizes. For example, a whale shark is HUGE and a Pygmy shark is so small it can fit in the palm of your hand. Sharks are made of cartilage, not bone. Cartilage is more flexible than bone. The cartilage helps them twist and turn, which helps them maneuver around quickly. This makes them excellent hunters. The only bones in their bodies are their jaws and teeth. Their teeth are razor sharp…sharper than a saw. These teeth have sharp ridges all down them. Did you know sharks have infinite teeth? This means that when one tooth falls out another quickly replaces it. They have rows and rows of teeth.

There are many kinds of sharks around the world. Some of them are: the Whale shark, the Pygmy shark, the Hammerhead shark, the Great white shark, the Goblin, the Mako shark, and the Lemon shark. Some of these live in shallow waters and others live in deep waters. The Goblin shark lives in such deep water, not even light can get there! Many people are scared of sharks but they mostly eat fish. We see sharks in movies like “Jaws” and “The Meg.” You can study sharks at aquariums around the world. You can even visit the aquarium right here in Coney Island to see a rare white shark.

I chose interviewing Ms. Martin because I wanted to learn more about her and her life. I also want to know how she feels about school and more about her kids.

GLOBAL WARMING is a problem we are facing right now. The movie Wall-E provides a great example of what is going to happened in the future if something doesn't change! So grab some snacks and relax because we are gonna launch in 3... 2... 1...! In the movie "Wall-E" humans ruined Earth because they didn't take care of Earth (just like now, some people hate the earth, but meanwhile they should appreciate it). So they leave the planet on a giant space ship. But before they left the humans made a robot called Wall-E who cleans up Earth by picking up all the trash. Eventually he finds a plant. Then, later on in the movie, the robots didn't want the plant because that would mean humans could go back to Earth and the robots didn't want that to happen. The robots hated what Wall-E did so they wanted to get rid of Wall-E. When they tried to get rid of Wall-E, Wall-E pushed back to not get thrown away and sadly ending up being broken. He was broken because he risked his life for humans! But Eve, another robot, fixed him up! They became friends after that. Then after that, they saved the planet and others! Finally, they went back to Earth to plant trees so people can live back on Earth, and it worked! So people did start to live on Earth. I hope this review changed your mind!

Justin Lubin: What is it like being a teacher at PS.249? Ms. Williams: Being a teacher at our school is very rewarding. I live in the neighborhood so I love teaching the kids who live nearby. It's hard work because our school and parents expect a lot from the teachers. We write and design the lessons ourselves based on the needs of our students. But I love the work, the kids are funny and interesting. I also love seeing the old kids come back and say hello.

Justin Lubin: What made you want to teach at our school? Ms. Williams When I decided to get my master's degree in education I knew I wanted to teach at a school like P.S.249. When I got the job here five years ago I was so excited! Growing up the schools in my city neighborhood were very bad, so I was bussed to a better school in the suburbs. I got a good education, but I don't think kids should have to leave their neighborhood to go to a good school. By working at P.S. 249 I hope that I'm making that dream a reality.

Justin Lubin: How was your childhood 5-15 years old? Ms. Williams: I grew up in a town called Kalamazoo, Michigan. I was raised by my mom and I have a brother who has the same birthday as me, 3 years older. Growing up was very difficult, my family was very poor and couldn't afford many things. There were many times when we had no phone, heat or electricity in our house. But my mom was hardworking and made sure we had at least two meals a day. It wasn't always something I liked eating, but she made sure it was healthy. Justin Lubin: What kind of student were you in school? Ms. Williams: I was not a good student, I talked a lot and struggled to focus. I was held back in first grade. I even needed to go to summer school so I could graduate from high school. Later, I found out I had learning disabilities, one of them is dyscalculia. Students with dyscalculia often take longer when working with numbers and may be more prone to making mistakes in math. It wasn't until I got into college that I got help with my learning disabilities. I also learned how important it was to work hard consistently and always turn in your assignments. My mom sacrificed so much for me go to college, I needed to work hard to make her and myself proud.

What would you do if you forced to do something because of color of your skin? 

This was called slavery, when people of color were forced to work by wealthy whites who considered themselves "slave owners". If the enslaved people did not do what they were told to do they would get killed or beaten by these "slave owners".

Slavery's Causes Slavery was caused by racial attitudes and religious beliefs. What caused people to be racist was that they were judging everybody by their skin color who wasn't white. Also, the people who held enslaved people captive had religious beliefs that allowed them to justify what they were doing. Many of the people who were enslaved were from different countries in Africa and believed in different religions and celebrated different things. The captors of enslaved people did not like that and they decided that since the people did not have the same Christian beliefs, that it was ok to enslave them and judge them.

Who Was Enslaved? Mostly Africans or black people were sold into slavery. Early on these people came from the African continent. Later African Americans who were born in the U.S. were mostly used for doing work in slavery.

Martin Luther King Jr. is one of the activists that has helped us, fighting against discrimination and for racial justice. For example, he started a march for black people's equal rights, even though he went to jail several times. He did it for justice because white people discriminated against Black people due to their skin color.

Chipotle and Roblox made a deal together that if you go on Roblox you can get a REAL free burrito from Chipotle. It was so popular that Roblox shut the game down and 10 minutes later 5 million people joined and broke the server. Too many people joined the game at once just to get a free burrito. Not many people were joining the other games and that meant all those people made the Roblox game shut down. This was really annoying for regular players.

Roblox does not refund money to people when they buy outfits they did not like. Some players have said that they were able to get refunds for items that were somehow deleted or not usable. But it seems like that these refunds are not regularly happening. Many players have said that they have yet to get paid back for the items that they've lost. If you paid in Robux for outfits, you're probably out of luck. Roblox deleted so many people's items. Also they might refund back the money and then five minutes later the player gets banned. They can't get back into their accounts. They’re super super angry and some people who said that they didn’t get back into Roblox that they feel like they got scammed. Now on Roblox there is no more refunding and people's outfits are still going missing.

Have you ever heard of Veterans Day? Veterans day is&nbsp;a public holiday held on the anniversary of the end of World War 1. It is to honor all past and present army workers. Do you know the oldest service for the military? The Second Continental Congress founded the Army in 1775; it is the oldest service of the United States military. Originally formed to protect the freedom of the first 13 colonies, the Army has evolved and grown from this small militia force into the world's premier fighting force. Do you know why it is so important for us to have the people that are in the military? It is so important because without the people who work for the army we wouldn’t have justice and some of us wouldn’t be here reading this!

What goes on in my world is mostly imagine that I do elemental stuff and also I’m kind of like Rock Lee from Naruto. There’s this type of attack he dose called the leaf hurricane he sweeps the person off the floor super smooth and then after he dose like a roll when he is finished attacking. Also my favorite games are Fortnight, Roblox, Genshin impact and Kirby Star Allies. And another thing is in my world, I LOVE the color blue and I love different types of sea animals. Lastly in my world something is Anime. My favorite Anime are Naruto, Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. Now those are my things that are in my world now you know about me my favorite things and what I like. Also what inspired me to be in the newspaper club is to be the best newspaper editor in this club! And that seems to be for you to know about me.👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽

November 12, 2021 The kids at P.S. 249 have started to make newspaper articles for P.S. 249 students in kindergarten, 2nd grade, 3rd, 4th, and 5th to read. Everyone at P.S. 249 in grades 3-5 can try out to join. It is a very good club where you get to write. Today there was a mini writing lesson on how to write a Newspaper article. Remember to include Who was there, What was going on, Where did it take place, When did it happen, Why did it happen. November 18, 2021 It is week two for our dear Newspaper writers from P.S. 249. Every student is writing their articles and editing for the last week before Thanksgiving!!! Everyone is typing their articles and going over them because we are getting ready to publish their work to the whole P.S. 249 school. A lot of people are nervous. December 2, 2021 Writers are in the third week of hard work. They are getting closer and closer to showing all that hard work to the whole school. Last Friday we had no meet up because of Black Friday. We just found out that if your article isn't finished it might get cut from the paper. I better finish my article!

One time, I went to Camelback with my sister and her friend and one friend of mine. In the first few minutes, we went to the mini park. At first, I went on one of the waterslides in the mini area. I was super thrilled! Afterward, we went to the lazy river, and then all of a sudden, we were on one of the ski lifts! And while me and my friend went on a different seat, we were in mid air and one of the workers forgot to put down the barrier! And readers, let me tell you, I was not happy. What went on in my head? Well, I was petrified. Then after a bunch of people noticed that both of us didn't have our barrier on, the ride stopped. I reached and pulled the barrier down. Two boys noticed and said I was brave for saving my friend and I from falling. Lastly, why I saved my friend and I was because if i didn't pull down the handle, we could have fallen, and also could have gotten cuts or gotten injured from the high fall.

One issue about Roblox is that some people are taking other people's accounts and hacking into them. Roblox added a refund policy and every time somebody is refunded they get banned. Another problem is when Roblox is out of the game, like Chipotle, over 10 million people joined the game at once at it shut down the whole entire game. Do you think regular players are angry? They have a right to be.

Thanksgiving is a holiday where people pass time with family members and eating turkey. People across the United States will be celebrating Thanksgiving, but things are different for a 14 year old named Storam Combs, because their ancestors called it the first Thanksgiving. Storam was a member of the Wampanoag nation. This tribe was one of the first indigenous people, or how some people call them “Native Americans,” persons to make some kind of contacts with the Pilgrims. If it wasn't for their help, the Plymouth colony could have failed. But the history of the Wampanoag colony goes all the way back farther than the unexpected arrival of the Mayflower in the year of 1620. The location they lived in for more than 12,000 years ago is what is now Massachusetts. Once Storam said “I feel proud of being a Wampanoag."

I think the style indie is better then kidcore is because there are more vibrant colors and they give me happy vibes, depending on the occasion. In my opinion indie style is better then kidcore, because indie has more pigmented colors and they are more vibrant. The second reason for my opinion is indie gives off more happy and exciting vibes. Sometimes when I’m feeling sad I look at indie pictures or I draw indie pics. The final reason for my opinion is for different occasions depending on the color, the color might look good and match. In my opinion kidcore is not the best style because the colors are pale and pastel. The second reason for my disagreement is the pastel colors give me sad and dead vibes. The last reason is kidcore clothes are not as stylish as indie. If you have indie clothes don't forget to wear them whenever it's the perfect weather and rock the style.

There are anime games and I’m gonna tell you about them! There are so many anime games like Demon Slayer HnoKami Chronicles, Dragon Ball Z, Kakarot, Dragon Ball Z Fighters, Dragon Call Z Zeno versus Naruto, to Boruto Shinobi strikers and there is so many more!

Some people try to make their own anime game – which we call anime fan games– and there’s one anime fan game I like in particular! The game is none other than My Hero Academia Beyond. My Hero Academia Beyond is a game where you play as your favorite My Hero Academia characters. You can play as Miro, Deku, Bakugo, and a lot other of your favorite My Hero Academic characters, and there’s even some new ones in development!

Martin Luther King led a U.S. Civil Rights Movement with non-violent protests. His march was held in Washington D.C. August, 1963. Two hundred fifty thousand people gathered in front of the Lincoln Memorial for jobs and freedom. Sadly, April 4th 1968, Martin died of a shooting by James Earl Ray.

Me and my family have been to couple of places. Every summer we go somewhere new. Mostly road trips. The picture with the cookies was in Minnesota State Fair, We've also went to Disney World and before school started the last trip we took was to LegoLand. We always try to go to new places. One day we will go somewhere farther and on a plane.
