CBD - Shopping To encourage more shops and shoppers to the CBD, instead of on-line or out-of-town. 1.New indoor Shopping Malls have been built because they offer protection from the weather and put many of the shops in the same building.&nbsp;This can help with mobility issues. 2. Pedestrianisation of Streets to relieve congestion and makes it safer in busy shopping areas. Also helps to reduce air and noise pollution from the traffic. 3. Improvements to the Streets to encourage more visitors such as new paving and lighting, trees and planters with flowers, better signage and street furniture,&nbsp;and new streetlights. Examples include Buchanan Galleries &amp; Buchanan Street.

Inner City Changes - Housing Due to run down nature of the Inner City and to encourage more people to live in the area. 1.New flats built on brown field land to encourage young professionals with disposable incomes to locate in the area.&nbsp; 2.Old industrial buildings converted for new flats to ease the pressure on housing and to make sure buildings do not fall into unused derelict&nbsp;sites. Examples include Glasgow harbour.

Rural / Urban fringe Changes Due to cheaper land prices, easy access by car and greenfield sites which allow for lower construction costs and room for expansion new shopping centres and industrial sites have been build on the edge of the towns and cities. 1.Out of Town Shopping close to motorway junctions so goods and customers to get to the shops more easily. Often close to a housing area which will help to supply labour. 2.Industrial Estates are easy to get materials / customers to the business. 3. Housing - Greenfield sites on the edge of the city mean land is cheaper and easier to access and build on.&nbsp;This mean homes can be bigger with gardens and off-street parking. Examples include Glasgow Fort and Hillington Industrial Estate
