Introduction
Do you like gymnastics? Are you interested in different events? How about the floor events ? If you are you might want to read this book. If you aren't you'll learn some new/cool things. If you are thinking I know what floor is it's a regular floor but you do moves on it that's not exactly true. Have you ever just thought about it and asked yourself a question if you did you might find your answer!
Chapter 1 History
Gymnastics came from dance. All the twirls, jumps, and spins are all dance and gymnastics moves. When you think of floor you might call it the dance part of gymnastics. There is a reason floor is not dance. Floor has handsprings and flips. Dance has leaps and turns.
Chapter 2 Floor moves
Some floor moves are flips, splits, jumps, cartwheels, twists, and handspring.
Each floor move has a certain technique so you can do it almost perfect. Your move could be anything. practice steps before you try it out. Your move might be cool or not. Your move might in the air or not. your move might be on the floor or not.Your move could be important. Your move could be not important but it's still there. Something cool about floor is that you can make up a move. Some gymnasts spend half of their practice making up moves. Cartwheels and handsprings start with you running then put your hands on the floor with your feet in the air. Twists and flips are fully in the air sometimes you'll run at the beginning but that's not the real move. Splits are a move where your whole body tuches the floor but not your butt/bottom. Your legs go strait out to the side. Some people think a split is a straddle but in a split your butt/bottom sticks up. In a straddle your butt/bottom stays on the floor.
Chapter 3 Mats
There are many different types of mats. There are squishy mats wedge mats. Round mats and a mats that are built into the floor. Some people call a built in mat a ruzzy. You can practice most moves on any type of mat.
Did you know there are more than 30 types of mats.
