Why I'm Ready For 5th Grade

Math

The hardest thing I did in math was measuring angles without a protractor. It was really hard because it was brand new and I'd never seen it before. The strategies I used were looking at the given angles, and using my knowledge of benchmark angles.

Well we know that the whole angle is 90 degrees, because it's a right angle. Now we can subtract 30 degrees from 90 degrees. 90-30=60. So the answer is 60 degrees.

I liked art because we did a lot of projects that let my creative juices flow.
My favorite project was my Monochromatic moon painting. I chose blue as my monochromatic color. for my silhouette I did a wolf howling at the moon. I think it looked really good.
I am also proud of making a happy summer poster for Mrs. Cruz. It felt really good to make her happy. :)

I liked Music because we did a lot of fun things like playing instruments.
I am most proud of learning Ode to Joy by Beethoven and playing it correctly in front of the class.

I liked PE because we did lots of fun games. My favorite game was hula hop.

My Favorite Subject

My favorite subject this year was art. My second favorite subject was Music. My third favorite subject was PE.

The Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus.
By Dusti Bowling

The book that had the most impact on me was The Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus, by Dusti Bowling. It is about a teenage girl named Aven, who has no arms. She gets left out a lot. But, then she meets a boy named Conor, who has ticks. (Which means he makes a random noise, usually a bark, at a random time.) The two become friends and meet another boy named Zion, who is overweight. The three become friends and solve a mystery. This book impacted me because it taught the class to not judge a book by it's cover, and to be kind to everyone no matter what they look like.

It was important to me because it just felt deep and meaningful. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone. It is a great book.

Writing

What writing are you most proud of this year?

The writing I was most proud of was my narrative, Misty Valley. I am proud of it because when I showed my first paragraph to the class, they told me to write more. I had cliff hangers and a lot of adjectives to make it pop. And it has a lot of Greek Mythology, which I love. It's pretty long, but here it is.
