Habitat
The fireflies live in humid warm areas of the world by the edges of streams, ponds and ditches.
Characteristics
The fireflies have three body parts they are head, thorax, abdomen, and they also have an exoskeleton. They have six legs and an antennae . They also light up at night.
Life cycle
The fireflies have complete metamorphosis. The four stages are egg, larva, pupa and adult. The egg are put in the ground and hatch in about a month. They hibernate during the winter.
Social and Solitary Insects
The fireflies are solitary because they work alone.
Friend or foe
Fireflies are a friend because they don’t bite. Also they don’t attack or carry poisonous diseases.
