Grasshopper

Grasshoppers are foes because they destroy crops. Farmers don’t like grasshoppers because they eat their valuable crops.

My name is Darshan Kami. I am nine years old. I am in second grade. I am a boy. I live in the city of Rochester. I live in New York State. I have four people in my family. I like to play outside. I like to play outside with my baby brother.

The grasshoppers are interesting because there are over 11,000 kinds of grasshoppers.

Grasshoppers are interesting because they make sounds by rubbing their wings or legs together.

The grasshopper goes through incomplete metamorphosis. The stage starts with an egg, then hatches into a nymph then grows into an adult.

A grasshopper has three main body parts. The three main body parts are the head, thorax and abdomen. It has an exoskeleton, 6 legs, antenna and wings. They have large back legs to help them jump. They can jump 20 times their body length.

Grasshoppers are solitary insects. They only meet to make other grasshoppers.

The grasshopper lives in gardens, fields, forests worldwide.
