Chapter 1
One day very early in the morning Pirate Square Hook went to Asda. He was feeling very sad as he had lost his pirate hat. He went to Asda to see if they had any hats for sale. When he was walking along the isles of the supermarket he saw a glowing object on the shelf. He was very curious so he went to have a closer look. It was a pencil case. The pencil case started to talk and said 'Please buy me, I am a magical pencil case and I can help you get a new pirate hat'. The pirate was shocked and very excited so he used some of his gold treasure coins to buy the pencil case. When he opened it there was a sparkly glowing pencil. It was magic. The pencil case said "whatever you draw with this pencil it will come alive.
Chapter 2
Pirate Square Hook was very excited to try out his new magic pencil. As soon as he got outside Asda, he drew a red Porsche with massaging seats on the flat ground.
The magic pencil said "abracadabra" and counted down 3...2...1 and POOF! - a shiny, brand new car appeared in front of him. "This is AMAZING!" shouted Pirate Square Hook. He got in the car and zoomed home.
In his room, he used the magic pencil to draw a new pirate hat. He drew black and white patterns on his hat, including a skull.
The magic pencil said "abracadabra" again and counted down 3...2...1 and POOF! Suddenly the hat came to life. Out popped two arms and two legs and the hat walked across the room and jumped onto the pirate's head.
The hat whispered to the pirate, "Draw a pirate ship next so we can go on an adventure!" Pirate Square Hook drew a wooden boat with a big sail. Inside the boat, he drew a map that would lead them to the secret treasure.

Chapter 3
The magic pencil said "abracadabra" again and counted down 3...2...1 and POOF! Pirate Square Hook was on a magical pirate boat in the middle of the sparkling ocean with the treasure map. Suddenly, he heard a massive crash! He noticed there was hole in the side of the boat and water was flooding the boat quickly. The boat started to sink and he could see sharks surrounding him. Quickly, he drew a speedboat with the magic pencil. A speedboat appeared out of nowhere. He jumped straight on to the speedboat and headed for shore. He looked at the map again and he realised that the X was over the supermarket. In the distance he could see the supermarket but it was very far away. Pirate Square Hook had always wanted to ride on a flying dinosaur, so he quickly drew one with the magic pencil and it appeared. He jumped on the flying dinosaur and flew straight to the supermarket. When he got there he raced to find the treasure, the map lead him to the place where he had found the pencil case and the pencil. He realised that in fact they were the treasure! In his opinion, they were the best treasure in the world, they had found his hat and also, they had saved his life! He couldn't wait to find out what amazing things they would do together next!
Be silly. Be fun. Be different. Be crazy. Be you, because life is too short to be anything but happy.
ABOUT THE AUTHORS
This book was written collaboratively by P1 - P3 B classes for Book Week 2022. Each class contributed to the next part of the story. The classes were provided with a setting, a character and an object that needed to be included in the story but all the creativity came from the pupils. Well done St John Ogilvie!
